Care Center MD

Thursday, April 28th, 2011

ADS’s Team of Medical SMEs has been working with industry to introduce new capabilities. Their latest project is the Cardiac Science’s Care Center MD paired with a Hewlett Packard Slate 500 PC Tablet making it the first the first truly expeditionary 12 lead ECG monitor kit.

The CCMD kit provides cardiac diagnostic information to deployed field units. Until now, this level of care was limited to robust medical treatment facilities and large deck Navy vessels due to the lack of portability of the ECG machine. The CCMD software program can deliver a preliminary diagnosis with multiple reach back options for immediate Medical Officer concurrence. The CCMD kit provides in the field diagnostic information to rule out cardiac related chest pain vs non-cardiac related chest pain, saving lives and potentially saving thousands of dollars by avoiding unnecessary MEDEVACS.

It is easy to use and accurate, requiring basic training and features an easy-to-read layout with a full display of key patient and test data. For example, the its unique at-a-glance indication of electrode contact quality verifies patient hookup prior to testing. Also, single-button navigation for all modalities simplifies workflow with fast access to advanced display and analysis tools with just the click of a mouse. The device does the work for you, with sophisticated analysis software extensively tested against a variety of industry standard databases for optimum performance. The system’s HP Slate 500 comes preloaded with all required CCMD software and Windows 7.

The kit includes:
1 CCMD system
1 lead connection set
1 pack of ECG pads enough for ten patients
1 HP Slate 500 preloaded
1 HP Slate 500 docking/charging station
1 HP Stylus pen
1 Pelican storage container

The CCMD will be on display in the medical section at Warrior Expo West. Be sure to get a full briefing and try it out. It is going to change deployed cardiac care.

XGO’s FR Shemagh

Thursday, April 28th, 2011

We first wrote about XGO’s FR Shemagh two-and-a-half years ago and yet it remains one of our favorite items. Shemagh’s continue to retain their popularity with US and Coalition forces serving in Afghanistan and yet the IED threat continues to grow exposing troops to dangerous flame threats.

Manufactured from lightweight Acclimate® FR 100% Flame Resistant no melt cotton, it has passed the American Society for Testing and Materials vertical flame resistance test (ASTM 6413-99). It has also been treated with Ag47 silver to inhibit bacterial growth. This is very important as Shemaghs are almost never washed and being worn around the head and neck normally end up smelling like a gym sock.

Currently available in Tan and Coyote versions, XGO is capable of doing custom runs of colors and patterns. To get yours visit www.proxgo.com.

New LE Rep for WT Tactical

Thursday, April 28th, 2011

This article is courtesy of the Mad Duo. Thanks guys!

When we traveled to SHOT this last March we spent a lot of time hanging around the Smith & Wesson booth…for a couple reasons. One was because our handlers were chillin’ there. Another was because the lady in charge of S&W’s rifle line seemed to have the hots for us. That’s what it seemed like anyway. It was at SHOT that we first met Brian Montgomery, who has now retired as an active police officer and been named by WT Tactical as their Military/LE representative on the west coast. We’re not terribly sure whether this means you have to actually be in a state bordering Pacific or if you have to reside on that side of the Mississippi, but after spending about 70 hours and working our way through numerous adult beverages with him at SHOT and a big training gig with Chicago PD, we are sure he’s a good dude. We’re certain he will be a great asset for WTT—not least of which because he spent so much time On The Job. (As you know, several of our handlers are LEOs, so we’re biased.) Brian’s going to be handling both the extensive WT Tactical military line and the upcoming M&P® By SMITH & WESSON® tactical apparel line WTT was licensed to build.

Brian was a municipal PD officer in Oregon (which he tells us is a state), was assigned to probation and parole and juvenile justice for a county agency and spent a lot of time working counter-narcotics and Tac. He’s a firearms instructor, earned his agency’s award for valor and prefers Guiness on tap. If you’re out west want to talk WTT for your agency, unit, tac team or yourself, contact Brian. He may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but he’s a stand up guy, he’s good to go and he’s Mad Duo Approved.

In closing, we’ll leave you with this picture of us one night while still at SHOT.

That’s Elvis, by the way, not Brian. He’s the one taking the picture.

Mad Duo Clear!

Brian, on the other hand, can be reached at brian.montgomery@wildthingsgear.com.

OA Duty Wear from Vertx

Wednesday, April 27th, 2011

Ever since Vertx introduced their pant, LE professionals have been asking for a duty uniform incorporating the signature Vertx styling. Now, with the introduction of OA Duty Wear, Vertx has done just that, offering subtly tactical features in a uniform that will be just as welcome with Officers who wear Class Bs daily as with Tactical Personnel.

Fred Heldman had this to say about the new design, “Today’s public safety officer is an Operational Athlete and needs a uniform that allows him or her to perform as one. However, they still must look professional. OA Duty Wear is designed to strike the correct balance between function and appearance.”

The two chest pockets on the shirt are accessed from the top and feature the same flap style as on the pant. There is an additional napoleon zip entry into the same pocket as well as a pen holder inside the left chest pocket.

While the OA Duty Wear features the same great fit and attention to construction details as the standard Vertx Pants, they have replaced the jeans style back pocket with a more traditional besom pocket to reduce snagging and present a more professional appearance.

The uniform uses a 65/35 poly cotton stretch twill for better color retention and breathability. The uniform also features a heavier weight Pant (6.5 oz) than Shirt (5.2 oz) for durability and comfort. Additionally, OA Duty Wear’s Intelli-Dryâ„¢ Treatment helps keeps the wearer cool while providing superior stain and fluid resistance. It is basically a push pull technology.

OA Duty Wear is offered in LE Navy and Black. The Shirts are available in both long and short sleeve in unisex sizes Small – 4Xlarge while the Pants are offered in both Men’s and Women’s sizing.

Vertx will be launching these new styles this weekend at both NAUMD (Booth #208) and TTPOA (Booth B-32 / B-33). Look out for a Duty Wear short soon.
