SIG MMG 338 Program Series

Plataxe

Manufactured by Hardcore Hardware for Platatac, the Platxe is quite a bit different than their previous tomahawk.

The new Plataxe is designed as a impact/MOE/CQB tool and features an articulated handle to place more force of the swing onto the blade. The head features a full blade and on the reverse a reverse penetrating spike. Manufactured from D2 tool steel coated with black Teflon and topped off with a G10 contoured handle.

The sheath might just be overkill. It offers full coverage. Made from Cordura with Kydex insert it can be attached to equipment via PALS.

Available exclusively from Platatac in Coyote and Black.

Received the new LFT01 in the mail today from HHA. This is a completely different beast from the original tomahawk that was released earlier this year.
The main differences are of course the textured G10 grip plates, aggressive handle strike face and substantially smaller size.
The G10 handles aren’t only textured but contoured in 3D which is outstanding, giving positive grip with our without gloves.
Easily one of the greatest bits of kit that man kind has ever seen!

What’s up with the pricey tomahawks? SSD must have missed the memo that we not fighting the indians anymore.

    • I see what you mean but... says:

Would you buy one if we were?

      • John says:

No, I’d buy one from REI for $40. For the price they’re asking, It should be made in the forge of the gods and blessed by Thor.

Actually, a good ‘hawk is a very useful tool. It can be used as a pry bar, a hammer, a short bladed knife, a spike for barrels, etc.

    Never underestimate a well-built tomahawk.

Still waiting on this company to come up with something original. First hawk is an rmj copy and this one is a crappier winkler

As a compact MOE or CQB tool this type of thing is kinda cool. I came across somewhere not that long ago the memoirs of a tac operator (tier one) that said words to the effect of: the tactical tomahawk is an intimidatory weapon of war and for PUC (persons under control) work there is no more efficient hand held tool for bringing a suspect or aggressor into compliance. Food for thought?

I’ve seen what these types of tools can do – one word DEVASTATING! Prices seem to vary from as little as $80 to $600 plus for the really overpriced ones, I guess this platax/lft? is somewhere in the middle.

D2 tool steel, G10 scales, teflon coating and 8mm blade and full tang handle (by the looks), sounds pretty hardcore as the name suggests. Looks sweet as too – Nice!……

Winkler? Had a look at the site. Are those prices right? $700+ for the base model, holly crap.

    Cheers,

This one does look like a crappier version of a Winkler!
