The Haley “Skimmer”

Setting out to give a 1911 trigger feel to a Glock, Travis Haley partnered with glocktriggers.com to develop the Skimmer. This Enhanced Carry Trigger System is a drop-in trigger manufactured from Glock factory parts which are individually hand polished to a chrome finish for consistent, reliable action giving you that crisp 1911 feel.

Correct me if I’m wrong but since this is a polished factory part. why not just polish your own trigger?

…And every redneck with a dremel drops their Keystone Light and sputters in anger, “But I’ve been doing that fer years!!”

Wow, with both Costa and Haley, Magpul must have had their hands full. Though their training skills and sometimes their backgrounds are impressive, the self adulation and excessive self promotion is really hard to stomach.

I’m not really understanding what this is. Is it a whole new trigger system, or just upgrades to the factory pieces? Is it going to change the way the trigger actually pulls (moving rearward rather than on a fulcrum), or is it just $160 worth of trigger in a $500 gun?

A couple words come to mind here: Gimmick, placebo.. et cetera.

It’s weird that there is so much doubt on a new product that no one has tried out yet. I figure these are the same individuals that complain when the industry doesn’t produce anything new.

Jeff Wilson from Glocktriggers manufactured these for Haley Strategic. From my experience, his stuff works, but they do cost some coin.

If you don’t want to spend the money for one , then it’s simple….DON”T BUY IT.

Nicely said Sam! I know exactly what you’re talking about when you mention those individuals that always complain about the market not giving them new products.

I just can’t figure out why people hate a product before it’s even been in their hands. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that a lot shooters don’t like Travis Haley. I’m not sure what there is to hate about him, but I’ve seen his “hater fanclub” increase exponentially in the last few months.

I’m interested in this product for sure. I’ve been running a Glock for a long time and I’ve used just about every Glock trigger on the market (the popular ones at least). I always end up going back to my 3.5lbs connector and NY1. I’m hoping this trigger will be something special. If I have the money, I’m gonna get one and probably run the crap out of it. I’ll let you guys know how it goes, that is, if I can get hold of one.

      • Sam says:

Very true. I have been running the Glock series since the 1980s. I have personally tweeked the trigger systems and have settled on the NY-1 with a tuned 3.5 lbs connector too.

People get all wrapped up in “My Instructor is better than yours” mentality. Pretty sad. Sort of like rabid groupies. For me, I like to learn from everyone and use the stuff that works for me.

        Oh well.

  7. Chuck says:

Ok…but i want the feeling of a Glock trigger in my 1911

  8. Don says:

I have used a Glock right out the box since they first came out and in almost every flavor they make. I don’t see the need to add or take away anything. The always go bang…nuff said.

    • FormerSFMedic says:

Glock factory triggers are gritty, heavy, and usually have a lot of overtravel. They also tend to have a mechanical feel too as the different mechanisms engage. A good drop in trigger or trigger job is definently something that a Glock needs.

A Glock also needs better sights and mag release. The factory sights are crap and the factory mag release is Sharp as hell.

Travis will have a video up tomorrow demonstrating the Skimmer trigger on the Haley Strategic website. You should check it out.
