USMC Pack Video

Slowly but surely, the pack once known as FILBE is making its way to the Fleet. Apparently, MARCORSYSCOM’s Program Manager Infantry Combat Equipment office has been able to take long enough away from making accusations against each other to produce this very informative video on what is now called simple the USMC Pack. It’s almost 30 minutes long so you may need to watch it in bites during breaks.

  1. Joe says:

Looks a lot better than the ILBE but strangely similar to my CSM Gear Mountain Ruck.

    • Quigley says:

      Why? Because its Coyote Brown?

If you had any observation skills you’d have directed that comment to the hydration carrier

  2. Canuck says:

    Accusations? Did I miss something?

Either way, I’ll watch that home tonight, else I’ll get slapped hahaha

  3. Swat says:

I like the ILBE. Best pack I’ve ever even seen! The ILBE day pack left a little to be desired tho.

  4. Sal Palma says:

Do you think they could have found someone a little less monotone?

  5. I look forward to hearing how that frame holds up for machinegunners. Before I was issued the ILBE, we’d busted every MOLLE frame available before switching to ALICE-style rucks. Is the plastic more durable on this? Otherwise, it’s a good looking pack – I didn’t really dig the internal frame style for military applications.

    • Joe says:

These newer frames are supposed to be much better. The one I had took a tumble 500ft down a snowy mountain into a rock (with 80lbs of gear) and had no damage.

  6. Will says:

Did anyone else notice the part where the narrator says; look behind you before donning”? Really? Did that need to be said? First off, we don’t always have the luxury of donning gear in a flat open field with double arms distance in all directions. Second, we’re Marines, if you get knocked in the face with someone’s pack, well you shouldn’t have been standing so close…..

But seriously, what is that body armor he was wearing? I’m assuming that is the scalable plate carrier, but it looks different than the ones ive seen before. In any case I’ve never been issued one, so I’m far from an expert.

If you need a 30 minuets video to show how to use a pack, there must be something wrong in the pack design…..

    • SSD says:

Not at all. They have to start at the most basic level and cover lots of ground. Military instruction for something like this has to inform the most common denominator, the guy who has never seen MOLLE or a even a pack in his life.

  8. Giovani says:

Personally I’m glad my boys are getting this. The ILBE’s were great but only without a flak jacket. The implementation of the FILBE means I can get my hands on a ILBE for cheap.
