Still Think US4CES Camo Looks Just Like MARPAT?

I’ve heard from more than one commenter that the ADS Inc US4CES family of patterns ( US Army Camo Improvement Program Finalists) is just like MARPAT. Here, co-developer, Guy Cramer of HyperStealth Biotechnology Corp explains the differences.

Guy Cramer, President/CEO of Hyperstealth, developed US4CES pattern independent of MARPAT. He came up with new Macro and Micro patterns designed to increase effectiveness at much greater distances than MARPAT which will isoluminate (The pattern appears as one color rather than four removing the disruptive quality) at much closer distances than US4CES.

Another improvement comes with the “Boundary Luminance Gradient” between the two dominant color layers which create a better disruption element between the two similar hues. Colorblind people see similar color layers the same and the disruption effect is lost – the green hue of night vision has the same effect and the target shape is easier to detect, thus the boundary luminance gradient helps separate these colors even under colorblind conditions. It also adds a 3D effect and the brain interprets this as depth and texture further confusing the vision processing system.

The Macro pattern was also designed to break up the human shape more effectively than had been accomplished with previous patterns.

HyperStealth claims this photo is taken under Night Vision but the color looks a bit off to me. Either way, you can see the differences in the patterns when they are side by side.

Mr. Cramer’s woodland pattern strongly ressembles the old woodland pattern, almost a pixelated version of it. I say almost because it appears his people have put a lot of effort into adding artificial depth into their pattern.

Any other news on the Camouflage Improvement Program? Are they ready to select the final pattern?

The M81 Woodland camo was a recolored and enlarged scale version of the erdl pattern. This help improved the pattern for long range performance due to the same isoluminate reason listed above for the US4CES pattern. The only resemblance i see between the US4CES pattern and the M81 woodland pattern is that the scale of the pattern is large.

IMO, the US4CES pattern looks more like a improved and refined version of his D3P-E (Enhanced) pattern.

If you are reading this Mr.Cramer. May you veritify this?
If I am wrong may you tell us what is the inspiration for this pattern, Thanks.

I’m thinking the Final Four is gonna come down between Cramer US4CES and Crye Mysterycam.

Can’t help but presume that ease of migration will be a factor–will it come down to the advantage of integrating Mysterycam with OCP in Afghanistan or US4CES with existing UCP everywhere else?

Finally! been waiting for a side by side comparrison with MARPAT. Now people can see the direct differences.

Seems original, performance between.640 and i860 nm is not classified but why give the bad guys a.chance…..just saying

Looking at the USFCES pattern I can’t help to think why all camo hasn’t been like this for a long time? It seems so obivious. Micro and macro pattern (pseudofractal, kind of) to make it work at a wide range of distances, and shading (err, ‘boundary luminance gradient’) giving it a 3D effect. Now, if only the color palette is right for the AO.

That said, some early camouflage developed by Professor Otto Schick, looks surprisingly modern. Eg. eichenlaubmuster (eichentarn) used by Waffen SS. Rerpo: http://www.camotest.de/gallery/images/product_images/original_images/eichentarn.jpg. And, on top of it, the WWII German camouflage clothing was typically fully *reversible*, with eg. summer/autumn or summer/winter options.

Kryptek’s contender in ACIP seems much less obvious than US4CES, innovatively playing with ‘scales’, twisting and blurred vs. sharp focus, but the result is also very much multirange and 3D.

It would nice of they could add apr in the mix do ppl can see its not the same

Whoever said “Marpat” must have meant SURPAT.

I think its funny that so many people are all over Guy Cramer’s balls who know nothing or very little about him. He has openly admitted to copying other patterns including MARPAT and to say that his designs were made independent of them is just an all out lie. What he does is takes other patterns and makes small tweaks to them just like US4CES (Marpat repixalated) and calls it something new. He is full of crap now and has been. Just like him claiming that he had technology that could bend light around an orange. IS he an idiot for saying that or are the people drinking his Kool-aid the idiots,? I dont know any more. WAKE UP and do your research. There is also a member of the Natick board who has stock in Hyperstealth and it would be advantageous for the board to pick it for the Army so the right pockets get filled. Kinda reminds me of the story with ACU’s…blind leading the blind; it’s disgusting
