MSM Hoodie RAW

Mil Spec Monkey has always got something cooking ad this time it’s the MSM Hoodie RAW.

It’s a comfy upper-mid weight fleece with 4″ x 4″ loop fields on the deltoid zones. The main opening uses a YKK zipper with frontal muff pockets on each side. They’ve also integrated thumb holes. Made in the USA! The cut is athletic so MSM recommends going up one size for a loose fit and two sizes to roll baggy. Sizes Small – XXLarge in OD or Charcoal.

That’s a pretty cool hoodie… and really reasonably priced for something that is ‘tactical’… I’d buy one if they came in black.
Perhaps on payday I’ll pick one up in charcoal…

  2. Dude Man says:

Yay. Add some velcro the shoulders and it’s tactical and you can charge triple yay. I don’t know if this is cotton but cotton will kill you when it’s wet and cold.

      RIF…as in Reading is Fundamental.

      It’s fleece

      It’s made in the USA

It’s not a big box pos with a monster truck appliqué on the front.

      • Dude Man says:

Polyester fleece is good and a higher quality fleece could make the jacket reasonably priced. I just know that I buy my daughters hoodies from Old Navy for $6.00 in every color. Not a typo; made in the far east cotton hoodies cost $6.00 retail.

        • SSD says:

Far East made, for a kid, on clearance. Your story holds no water. I’m glad you’re in the manufacturing business.

          • GAK_PDX says:

I *do* work in manufacturing, and $44 for a USA made, high quality, thoughtfully designed fleece is a solid deal.

      • Luke says:

“sweatshirt fleece” can be a majority cotton, like 60/20, not the 100% polyester we associate with “fleece” jackets (more accurately “polar fleece”)
        “fleece” is not a fiber.

if it’s less then half cotton I’ll probably get one.

  3. Luke says:

definitely looks several steps better then a standard hoody, I like how deep the pockets are!
would like to know fiber content though…

What is with companies and the thumbhole thing. These are for emo kids who wear their sleeves over their hands.

All they do is send a draft up your sleeve, and who the hell in the MIL / LE community or “tactical culture” walks around with their sleeve over their hands or in their pockets? Have nothing in the way of your hands doing what they might have to do. If your cold, put on gloves.

    • Kango says:

Hmmm, I guess I should turn in my Arcteryx Naga hoodie…

    • Doc Steel says:

My issued silk weights have thumbs i use all the time when i don’t have gloves

    • Buckaroomedic says:

Thumb holes are a great idea for the tactical market. I’ve never had a draft go up my sleeve while wearing them. They add to the body’s thermal efficiency by covering the wrist area between jacket and glove. I know many MIL/LE people who swear by thumb holes on their jackets.

    • mike says:

It has more value when layering. If you put an outer layer over thing, the thumbholes keep your sleeves from going halfway up your arms. Just because you don’t like something doesn’t mean it’s bad.

Cool product, I’ll grab one for the kid. Can I get one of the XXS prototypes like DJ is wearing… 🙂

  6. Craig Petersen says:

Some serious whinging going on here, I personally think it looks good for the $44.00 asking price…if this was made by a more prestigious brand (you know who) they would be asking 4 times as much. The main pro’s here are “MADE IN THE USA” in a decent material/fabric and as an Australian that’s good enough me, only downer is I wish it came in Coyote Brown. But in saying that I have already purchased one in Charcoal!

  7. JohnnyRambo says:

    Hey Monkey,
What are the pants you are wearing in the photo?
Just ordered a Hoodie and some other good stuff. Stoked on the Charcoal Grey color!

  8. SqDb says:

Never been a huge Hoodie fan, but I just placed an order. Good company, good looking product.
