LVOA AR Officially Launching Today

The site for the Low Vis Operations & Applications AR has already launched. Look for additional content as they populate it, including attributes, bios, FAQ’s, product highlights, photos etc.

The LVOA AR (both 12″ NFA SBR and 14.5″ with pinned flash hider Carbine variants) will launch for sale today at 1400EST. For those of you unfamiliar with the concept, the LVOA was designed specifically to mitigate the muzzle flash as much as possible in order to lessen the effects on night vision devices and to help mask the shooter’s position. You aren’t using a suppressor with this one.

I didn’t see any content up at the site the link took me too. Are they still working on the site? This is a rifle I’m seriously interested in purchasing.

    “Nothing Found”

While it seems like a cool idea, I’m not sure why an organization who has the latitude to purchase a carbine like this would not use a suppressor to mitigate both flash AND sound signature. Is it a terminal ballistic issue?

I’m all ears, seems like a pretty cool rifle all in all.

Many operations are happening at night so the flash of a weapon not only discloses the shooter’s position but also plays hell with his night vision system.

A sound suppressor isn’t going to do you much good when you’re shooting a flame out of your weapon that is a bigger signature than the sound of the weapon. Besides, the bad guys know they are being shot at so what’s the point of a quiet weapon?

      • Tuukka says:

A properly manufactured, high performance sound suppressor will reduce the visible signature extremely well.

The point of the sound suppression in addition to reducing the hearing damage risk and aiding in C&C, is the masking of the shooters actual direction / position, this in conjunction with the flash signature suppression.

So, if they cant see you that well and the muzzle blast is effectively reduced, the only thing left is the bullet flight noise which in some cases orients the enemy into facing or heading into the wrong direction..
