T3 SurFight Trunks

This is T3’s first foray into crossover products and I think they did a great job developing an off-duty board short. Boys will be boys and most enjoy a day at the beach, and the SurFight Trunks will fit right in yet hint to the wearer’s background through small details like the base color (Black or Navy) and associated stitching and camouflage pocket. There are also two pockets, left front and right rear and there are additional, less obvious features as well, like 550 cord drawstring and bartacks as found on combat clothing.

Between the para cord drawstring and waist front closure you can cinch them down. In fact, this double Velcro closure presents a smooth exterior and is often found in MMA shorts. These trunks pull double duty, hence the name; SurFight.

Could these be an initial attempt to field a replacement for the decades old standard issued UDT short? UDT shorts IMO, can definitely use updating, both in style and the material they are made from. Are there any active efforts by the US military to update or replace UDT shorts?

    • Chris K says:

Agreed, UDTs could be updated to have more room for your junk and a more comfortable waistband. T3’s next project?

I wear my UDTs while surfing Soldier Systems. It helps keep me in the mood and if I need to go keyboard commando on somebody, I am ready. haahaha

Wow. The news cycle must really be slowing down if board shorts are news. At least get a model riding a skateboard while wearing those, cause as it stands, you’re all suffering from taking yourselves a bit too seriously disease. Next stop, congressional candidate…

    • SSD says:

Good Lord, if you don’t want companies to make other things, then buy more tactical stuff. I don’t have time to run for Congress because I’m too busy wiping the noses of the whiners. I remember when there were but a handful of companies making gear. You are living in enchanted times. Enjoy them.

Actually just got a pair recently. Very nice shorts. The cut of the shorts is just right, too, enough to cover the knee but not catch on the knee when bending.

These look really cool… I want a pair… or two… the perfect attire for your next board meeting!

    Nice job!

keep up the great work Ricardo, Trevor and team!

Not bad but I think the little details about “hinting to the wearers background” is lame. Now a bunch of losers will be grabbing on to that detail and buy the shorts just for that in their efforts of posturing among their peers. I guess its not enough to say hey our shorts look pretty cool and more importantly, they fit nicely.

    • SSD says:

The point was, they aren’t all camo or say, ‘SEAL’ or ‘Action Man’ or whatever. It’s there, but its subtle.

I just want to thank everyone for their comments and support, not just with the shorts but with everything we have going on. The shorts started out as a hobby project and took off from there. The most important aspect of the shorts is they work well and they actually do look cool. With that being said, we make tactical equipment for a living and put just as much care and effort into its design and quality. BTW, we really don’t take ourselves very serious at all, but we are serious about our gear. Thanks.

I think you did a wonderful with this product.

How about tackling the issue of designing a new set of UDT shorts. It looks as if these board shorts might be a good starting point. Fortunately I don’t have to wear my UDTs anymore, but the last time I had them on few years ago while doing work on my lakeside dock I realized just how uncomfortable and outdated they were.

I am sure with your contacts and expertise a newly designed UDT short wouldn’t take long to develop and would be a money maker for T3 Gear.
