I just thought it was interesting. It kind of looks like a Kamov and a Cheyenne had an illicit rendezvous. This would have been cool in the 60s.

    I saw concepts of this in the late 90s. I drew a picture of one and gave it to my dentist. I was like 10.
    anyway, always makes me nostalgic.

    A little late on the news there. That test program was completed a couple years ago.

      Maybe you should tell Sikorski to stop peddling it. I had them at SOCPAC in 04 briefing similar technology.

    That “test program” has not been completed, else this would be a production aircraft. Sikorsky has been developing this airframe for quite some time, and they fully intend for it to replace the H-60 and other platforms currently in use. Sadly, flight testing has thus far been limited to two-pilot versions, rather than an internal/external lift variant.

    SSD, it’s Sikorsky, not Sikorski. Unless you were making a Cold War ‘ski joke, in which case it IS a little late 🙂

    Maybe Sikorsky should get off their butts and deliver the CH-148 Cyclone to the Canadian Forces, the damn things are FOUR YEARS overdue!! 28 ordered, zero delivered. Unreal.

    The X2 Demonstrator as a program was retired on 14 July 2011. They are probably using the vehicle to demonstrate some of the high-tech wizardry that they were able to develop due to this R&D prototype. The knowledge gleaned from the development and research of the X2 is being utilized for the US Army’s Armed Arial Scout Program, towards the development of the Sikorsky S-97 Raider. http://raider.sikorsky.com/index.asp

    last year Sikorsky had a military full scale model of this design in a millitary configuration..very cool. would make one hell of a gunship…two turrets with 2 gatlin guns each ..
