Anyone remember this?

It’s amazing what can and what can’t happen in 10 years.

Two questions: What the are his boots made out of and why? and Isn’t that flag supposed to go the other way?

  2. Chris says:

Well, at least we got combat pants and a combat shirt…

    • Jes says:

I guess you can say you also got a helmet out of it too. I’m pretty sure the same people who made the mock up helmet (Artisent) are the same ones behind the creation of the Ops Core FAST helmet.

Musta been one of the last Crye iterations before they started doing everything in Scorpion.

    3 Color Desert. Check.

    Black Hardware. Check.

Looking in EVERY surplus store in the 5 boroughs for a desert-color flag oriented for wear on the right shoulder…

Well, 2 outta three ain’t bad, especially back in the day.

Lol you can see the evolution of Crye’s combat pant in this pic… And the more things change, the more they-wait… Even with newer and better tech and gear, they never change, because Brass is too scared of political fallout to get good equipment that can save lives to the guys and gals actually fighting down range…

HAHAHA. Remember When The Media Jumped All On This Project Too? Calling The Integrated GPS System “Incredibly Advanced” Or Lambasting The Price Of The Project. I Remember Seeing This In Books Too. Priceless.

    • thelastglidertrooper says:

Reminds me of the days when I played Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter as a kid. The game was heavily influenced by the Future Force Warrior/Scorpion program. I remember being so interested in the game and the FFW program, that I looked up all the gear that comprised the soldiers kit. I recall seeing that the futuristic helmet was made by Artisent, which is interesting since I just recently figured out that they are manged by the same people who mangage Ops Core.

Judging by larger version from MilitaryPhotos, we’ve got not just things mentioned above.
And not all the plastic hardware is black (look at the right shoulder).
There is something like Energizer HardCase light on the helmet. Or they were thinking about Contour-style camera?
The non-black boots are also available.

I still don’t know why the army thought a wearable computer with a non see through eyepiece would somehow be better then a commercial off the shelf PDA with networking and GPS.

I think I’m just too much of an advocate of Keeping It Simple (Stupid)
