SIG SAUER - Never Settle

Raine Inc. BOK Preview

1

The BOK is a upcoming medical kit developed by Raine Inc in collaboration with members of AFSOC. It is a two-part system composed predominately of 500D Cordura nylon and 4-way stretch fabric from Duro. It mounts to a belt using standard MOLLE with tuck tabs, and large, tight elastic loops with hook tape tabs.

The aid kit portion features an “ambi-pull” which allows the user to reach down with either hand to extract the aid kit from the sleeve. The 4-way compression of the sleeve keeps the aid kit in place, along with a small amount of hook and loop internally.

The BOK will be available soon on www.raineblack.com/.

I wonder how Mayflower feels about this.

  2. Kaos says:

Or you could ask SO Tech and SOE too, because they also make this style and way before Mayflower. And if I remember correctly, its a Natick design. It’s a great design, regardless of who developed it and I’m glad to see more than just one company offering it.

  3. Jimbo says:

I agree. It looks a lot like my MF.

    $230 for a sling? yeah, no……………….

Why can’t someone make an IFAK with a pull direction that is vertical rather than just a tear off

    • Jon Meyer says:

They do.. Blue Force Gear’s Trauma Kit Now! pouch is verticle pull. Pull the tab up and away and the insert comes out of their soft pouch that secures it. It comes out vertically.

      FirstSpear ERK

    • SSD says:

Because generally this would mean that pulled vertically into something else (armor, another pouch, etc), thereby impeding the deployment of the kit. Or, if it’s back mounted, few people are contortionists that can reach around their backs to pull something vertically.

      • Andrew says:

LBT 9022b has a pull direction vertically down and has been run in the belt mounted 6 o’clock position by NSW for quite some time to very good effect…

I’ll stick with the mayflower And LBT offerings as this appears significantly deeper which can be a problem when seated in vehicles.

      • DaveWs says:

I just meant something more in like the Phokus idea of being able to drop deploy an IFAK or pull up. Just picked up a plate frame and sort of like the idea of being able to hide an IFAK under the cummberbund. Thanks for all the ideas everyone

  6. Ground Pounder says:

Why does everything on their site look like somebody else’s kit?

    • Lasse says:

Hopefully because of this: “Raine is very proud to announce that it is expanding its brand into a very high end product line named BLACK. We have commissioned top designers in the industry to develop gear that will be used up to the Tier One level. Top designs with outstanding quality spell BLACK. The Raine Black website shows our initial offering of BLACK.”

  7. Jimbo says:

I do like the fact that it has the big black cross on it.

  8. mike says:

Who knew we carried this? After seeing this article I saw the catalog on our shared drive. Some great looking stuff there.

To everyone talking about designs being copied from one company to another, bringing in outside talent aside, are you guys aware that the industry runs on recognizing good designs and building on them? No idea belongs to a single person or group forever if it’s good…

  9. C.B. says:

Original is from S.O.Tech, If I remember correctly they developed it for Natick only to later get ripped off by Natick. SOE is also a later “copy.” This Raine version is nothing less of a clone as well. Same concept excited “differently”

We made this BOK in accordance with with the customers needs. Their SME’s gave me a couple of competitors products they had tried but didn’t suit their needs. This thing went through 7 different design iterations to get where its at, then went to the field with this bunch of Combat Controllers, and came back with one final adjustment and now its complete in the manner in which it is displayed above. This is a side deploy-able BOK that was put together and arranged according to what the customer needed and intended. If by Mayflower, you mean a sleeve made out of 4 way stretch…ok. If by SOTECH you mean there is a top flap and two side flaps…ok. OSOE? yea I don’t think so.

I recall thinking the same thing about every single gear company using Tactical Tailors bungee top mag pouch idea…and then realizing that it was just a damn good idea. If this BOK was a one for one copy of anything else in the market then I would gladly concede the point and I wouldn’t have submitted anything to the SSD admin in the first place. But since that isn’t the case, I will say that I appreciate everyone’s comments and I appreciate the opportunity to respond.

And yes for the record, we do have quite a bit of Eagle flare and that is for 2 reasons; 1. we went after the last re-issue of a bunch of their load carry system, and 2. Eagles production manager for their Mass. and Puerto Rico operations for a decade is our production manager.

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and I hope to see you all at SHOT Show.
