Field Gourmet – Dutch Oven Biscuits

One thing I can say about Scouts is that I learned how to cook over an open fire. Here is a recipe for Dutch Oven biscuits from the 1967 BSA Field Book.

I remember Dutch Oven Peach Cobbler at the end of Scout Camp every year! When at Philmont we even did a Dutch Oven cookout at one of the stops right before the Tooth of Time. I can’t wait have it again with my boys!

I love using my Dutch Oven, and have been for many years. My Scouts have made some great meals with it, and others the Troop has, and make me happy to see them so involved in using the Oven. I really enjoyed Dump Cake they made once.
