Sneak Peek – Prototype SureFire Suppressor for Subsonic .300

Prototype Suppressor

Last week, I had an opportunity to fire a Hodge Defense Systems AU Mod 1 fitted with a .300 upper that was equipped with a prototype SureFire suppressor for use with subsonic .300 ammo.

I was shooting at a walking target about 75 yards out. The ‘ping’ from the hits was louder than the rifle. As you can hear from the video, I was taken aback by how quiet it was. Hodge guns are always a joy to shoot but I really had a great time with this set up.

Look for release, Summer 2014 from SureFire.

(Before anyone asks, the cap is a Slangvel M43 in Kryptek Highlander, the Flak Jacket eyepro Oakley in woodland King’s Camo, the T1 mount by Seekins, the handguard from BCM, magazine is Magpul PMAG 40 AR/M4 Gen M3, it’s a Sordin headset, and I’m wearing a Boss Rugby by Velocity Systems.)

Who wants a can that’s only good for subsonic ammo?

    • Garin Lee says:

It isn’t. I am not going to get into any more details than that but it was designed around the sub 300 BO loads and is silly quiet.

Me!!! That’s who. I’m currently using my Surefire SOCOM for 762 on my 300 BLK and would LOVE to have a specific 300 BLK suppressor if it means I can get a reduction of a few more dBs.

This product would be a game changer.

  6. AV says:

Having fired the same setup that day and standing next to Eric while he was shooting, I can say it is not only a game changer and impressive, it is ridiculously quiet.

  7. StevethePirate says:

Does anyone know (I know, details are thin) if this uses the Surefire SOCOM 7.62 muzzle brake? Or perhaps some other muzzle device? It looks like a QD can from the pictures.

  8. Parker says:

good thing he is wearing earpro.

    • SSD says:

Yeah, considering I was on a shooting range I was wearing eye and ear pro. Guys on that range were firing everything from suppressed .22 to unsuppressed .338 at any given time. Firearms can be loud and affect your hearing. Wear your ear pro fellas.

That’s Midwest Industries SSK rail if anyone is wondering.

How does this compare sound wise super and sub, with the 762socom mini?
