Rhino Laces

1

Born from a successful Kickstarter campaign, Rhino Laces were developed by wildland firefighters who found themselves needing a more durable lace to match their work boots. The laces utilize a patented formula that makes them highly durable. Rhino Laces claims the laces “…cannot be burned, cut, sawed, chopped, destroyed, or broken…”, yet they promise to replace any damaged laces for free.

The laces come in Spec Ops Black, Coyote Tan, Reflective Black, and Reflective Red in lengths of XS – 5XL. Made in the USA.

Orders will begin shipping on June 15th, 2014.

Still waiting for my orders to come in, but looking forward to putting them in and not looking back.

  2. Mick says:

Very cool, but egads, $29 for a pair of shoe laces…

Personally i just wish the PX would stock some of the high speed 550 cord laces… I assume those are less than $29 a pop…

    • mike says:

You can buy a hundred foot bundle for approximately $5-$7 in a retail setting; why wait for the PX? For that matter, the next time some gets used in a task and discarded after just grab a length of it for your boots.

We created Rhino Laces because we were tired of paracord breaking and in our case burning. Then our boot became worthless until we could sit down and tie knots in our lacea to put them back together. In our professions who has time for that. Our website runs 50% off for the 1st 10 minutes that you are on the site. So you can get them at 14 dollars a set. All are handmade by firefighters, their wives, ex military, their wives and several friends. You are getting the best.

I would like laces that have more friction in knots, because I’m tired of double-tying or re-tying mine.

    • bobX says:

The link isn’t posting, but try doing a search for double slip knot. I’ve been using that for years with great success.

    • Buckaroomedic says:

Ummm . . . try a square knot or granny knot. They’ll never come undone until you want them too.

I bet if you’re in a pinch you could pull them out and use them for other tasks too.

Looks like my laces in Rocky S2V

  7. Doc says:

How do you think they go around cutting these to length for the different sizes? Some variety of black magic perhaps? Alchemy?

But 20 bucks for laces for life? I’m down.

  8. AbnMedOps says:

Shoe and boot laces should be flat, NOT rounded cordage. And they used to be, back in the day, until someone decided that they could shave a fraction of cent per bootlace by pushing round cordage and pocketing the savings. Ever notice how round shoelaces keep coming untied, while flat laces tend to stay tied? Turns out that the difference in friction and other factors has been studied with deep mathematical stuff – Wall Street Journal had an interesting article on this a few years ago.

Yeah, I know. My rampant iconclasm is going to get me into trouble one of these days. I’d file a Freedom of Information Act thing to see my Permanent Record, but it would probably get me put on some list..

  9. Terry says:

So it’s the outer sheath from some parcord with a steel cable in the middle? That won’t be much fun at the airport.

    • JT says:

      Hi Terry,
We have flown with ours, 4 or 5 times, for the past 7 months with no issue at all.

I am leaving tomorrow for Texas and I will be wearing my boots and Rhino Laces again.

They scanned them and all was well.

    Terry,

You have to remove your shoes when processing through the search lanes regardless…
