Beyond Clothing – L7 Linebacker Jacket

Linebacker Jacket-2

Brand new for 2014, Beyond Clothing’s S7 Linebacker Jacket is a generously oversized outerlayer which provides a quick, shedable layer to stay warm in cold, static environments. Designed for wearing over kit, the Linebacker can quickly be removed and stowed into a pack. I tried one on at Outdoor Retailer and I’m impressed. I’ve used/checked out these types of coats going back to the days of using diving deck jackets for the same purpose. This one is well thought out and the reinforced rear hem is awesome. Nonskid eats many of the other jackets for lunch and their backs are often shredded. If you use a Linebacker-style parka for transit in aircraft, boats, vehicles or just hanging around fully kitted up in inclement weather, check this one out.

It flirts with genius! What’s it pack down to?

Now all we need to do is ditch the velcro, make it in MARPAT, and we’re there!

Why MARPAT? Former Marine here; not trying to instigate, you just seem very opinionated and I’m curious.

The ultimate treestand coat. No need to bring my sleeping bag anymore.

WL Gore made these back in the day.. Only they were FR intended to be worn on helicopters. Also, Canada Goose made these, FR as well. Not a new concept. Been around since the mid 2000’s..

Didn’t say it was. The idea goes back at least to ODS when SMU personnel purchased Goat Coats from local herders and wore them on helos. After that, units purchased deck coats from various Dive companies. later, purpose built models have been produced.
