I think I just jizzed my pants. That thing is a work of art.

  2. Mike says:

Really nice! If I want something similar…..what did it cost?

  3. EJB3 says:

Yeah, you should include the cost as part of the sales pitch.

    • SSD says:

I’m not selling anything. There are plenty of great pistol smiths out there. This story is about ZEV.

  4. Craig says:

Echo Mike and EJB3’s comment…price tag please. Understand you’re not selling, just curious what it cost so this poor boy can decide whether to save…

    • SSD says:

I generally don’t put prices on articles because they change based on time and circumstances.

Contact ZEV and tell them you want the SSD makeover.

  5. Justin says:

Boom! Digging the 1/3rd cowitness and RMR! Good choice SSD

  6. Dellis says:

Are they strictly “Glock” customizers or will they dabble in other makes?

Oh and by the way…..Schawing! Work of art!

  7. Desert Lizard says:

    It looks incredible!

  8. Frankie says:

Seeing as they put there own touch on everything, would it not be more beneficial and cost effective to send them a bare frame instead of a complete pistol?

  9. J.H.S says:

My guess would be somewhere in the $1750 price range (over and above the cost of the pistol and RMR). Slide, trigger and magwell are probably just under $1000 as the slides START at $500 and this was not one of their standard slides that they cut.
Regardless of the cost, this is without a doubt the most impressive Glock build I have ever seen. My G17 is SCREAMING for a makeover!

    • Frankie says:

I have a Zev Dragonfly at one point, and wasn’t all that impressed with it truth be told. (Link for your viewing pleasure: http://www.bpoutfitters.net/ZEV-Dragonfly-Glock-17_p_3994.html)

If I recall, I believe I paid $1750 for it. Mine had the slide already milled for an RMR, but I had to purchase my own (another $500). The first thing that I noticed after spending almost $2000 on it, was that it was still using a stock barrel. What the heck? Oh well, “the extra cost had to have come from somwhere” I thought. I began looking further. Stock recoil unit as well…Okay?

After digging deeper and pricing things out, I concluded that I could have build the exact same gun (without optic) for right around $1100. Which basically led me to the conclusion I was actually paying for a $600 stipple job.

To conclude: If you are considering doing those thing, order the parts and do it yourself (if you want to save money that is). Zev makes really nice stuff, but at the same time they are extremely proud of their work.

If this isn’t a sales pitch, then what exactly is it? I’m curious because after the Legion Firearms posting disappearing (for obvious reasons), boutique firearms companies seem more about the exposure they get than the product they produce.

    • SSD says:

      It disappeared?0

    • SSD says:

Fixed the disappearing Legion story. From the control panel, it looked like there were two versions of the story on the site. Deleted one and they both went to trash.

As for calling ZEV a boutique gun company. Well, that tells me you either have an agenda or you don’t know what you’re talking about. Either way, I don’t like trolls.

  11. Spartan says:

Nice sidearm. It’s really a work of art. Enjoy it. Thanks for walking us through the process.

  12. Mohican says:

    Amazing handgun!

  13. Taylor says:

Damn yeah I’m jealous… and dangerously close to blowing a lot of money on one myself

  14. The Downrange Girl says:

Where style and function meet….. 🙂

  15. Edwin P. says:

    Well done Eric!

Edit: Ok the original post was made out of anger and frustration. Here is the whole story. I returned from Italy after being stationed there for 2 years in March of 2014. I had made prior arrangements to send my Glock 19 to ZEV to get some custom work done. Mainly slide milling nand stippling work. I wanted to get the Veteran Cut slide from Zev as this was going to be my last deployment gift to myself after 5 combat deployments. The work to be done was the concealment cut stippling on the frame, double under cut under the trigger guard, Zev oversized mag release, Zev Fulcrum Trigger drop in kit. The slide milled in ZEV’s Veterans Cut and milled to accomodate a Trijicon RMR and suppressor height sights. Note: I asked for the ZEV milled slide not for them to mill my factory slide. KKM match barrel threaded. 16 weeks lead time so no big deal. First sign of bad news is I get a phone call from ZEV. They tell me that they milled the factory slide. STRIKE #1 I am upset but I really wanted the pistol back. So I am ok with it. they ship it and I get the pistol back in July. On first look it is a really nice looking pistol. I identify flaws however. The factory logo remenants are visible, in the pictures below you will see the “A” for Austria still there. On the front cocking serrations you can see what appears to look like chips like it wasnt done correctly. STRIKE #2 They also forgot to include the thread protector to the KKM Barrel. STRIKE #3 I email Zev about the issues and I get a reply back and they tell me that it is indeed remenants of the factory logo. They ship out the thread protector and guess wat? The thread protector is still in the factory color not DLC black like the Barrel. Strike #4. I also noticed after doing holster drills that the DLC coating is coming off. Strike #5. I do holster dry fire drills with the pistol and I notice the rear sight not alinged and basically ready to fall off. I push it with my finger and it slides completely off. STRIKE #6. I notify Zev and they agree to do the work. They even paid the shipping to their shop. I email them for an update and they tell me that the rear sight is not in the box. I told them I included it in the box and I forego writing a list of components in the box as I bubble wrapped the slide with the RMR still attached and the trijicon back up sight stuffed inbetween the slide taped. They inform me that they can’t find it. STRIKE #7 Communications for me went like this. I had to literally email them for updates. I never got updates and they never told me what the problem is. I email them last week and Zev tells me its good to go. I email them yesterday and they say the hold up is the I need to pay the shipping and packaging fee. STRIKE #8. Needless to say I don’t argue about the Shipping Fee’s because I am already mad about the whold situation. I padi $1500+ to get work done on my pistol. It wasn’t right the first time and now I have to wait additional time and spend money on shipping because the Company didn’t deliver the first go. This is my whole frustration and I would advise those that would like a custom pistol done by ZEV to think about what I went through. I am really appalled that I have to pay the return shipping and packaging considering all the issue that were present on the pistol. It seems like I was just another number and they will fix it when they can.

    • SSD says:

Thanks for the update. But to be clear, you wrote the original comment and the AR15.com post while ZEV had your slide and was working to fix it. Correct?

  17. AL says:

Update: Zev is taking care of me and should have a new slide cut at the end of SEP early OCT.
