Seen here with other items, the Ceramic Escape Knife from Gearward makes a great emergency backup knife. The uses are limited but by your imagination.

As you can see, it can be also stored in a wide variety of locations on your clothing, footwear and kit for retrieval and use in the most dire of circumstances. Being ceramic, it’s also not going to set off magnetometers.

A simple storage compartment can easily be created with the aid of the CEK.

I do believe that the small ceramic blade is actually made by Mr Phil Cressman of http://www.ceramicknife.org/

It’s a great little blade and I always carry one with me.

One nice feature that the article doesn’t mention is that it’s made to be used for creating sparks from a fire steel. When folded, the cut-out in the plastic exposes the blade in such a way that you can put some pressure on it while using it together with the fire steel without breaking the blade.

Phil makes some great ceramic blades at affordable prices. His retractable ceramic cutter and the folding riggers knife are my favorites, and they are very popular with the EOD-crowd.

Won’t set off magnetometers you say?

Who makes those pants and what model are they? That’s a awesome feature that all pants should have!

Nice! I might have to get one for those places that don’t allow even a basic folder because it’s a “weapon”. This looks nice and non-threatening but seems sharp enough for any moderate cutting that I might need like opening stubborn packages.

Great product. I would also like to know who makes those pants?
