SIG SAUER - Never Settle

EraThr3 is Live

Remember Erathr3?

“I’ll tell you what it’s not. It’s not Fight Club. It may seem like we’ve trying to keep things a secret but we’re not. EraThr3 [pronounced Era Three] is a lifestyle with a company wrapped around it. It’s not a company with a lifestyle.”
Sheri Johnson, EraThr3 COOO

Well, they’ve launched a pretty extensive website chock full of cool wares like weapons, t-shirts, hats, knives. You know, the stuff an SSD reader would be interested in.

So far, I’m not sure if I’m going to pick up the target pack or the aluminum yo-yo. I highly suggest you go check it out.

Well it’s about damn time. Been looking for this to happen since October but hell, the site does not disappoint. Even/especially that yo-yo and space invaders target sheet.

Been waiting on this a while, following along on Facebook and Instagram and I’m a little underwhelmed by the lack of content and some items already being sold out or “coming soon”… Although the AIII soft armor packs are pretty cool.

Just looked over their store, as I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, before making any final decisions. I’m unhappy to say my first reaction was still correct: a company that is trying way too hard, but will still amass a following of people with more money than sense.

You mean for the low price of $185, I can own a yo-yo AND a pair of dice? Why, I’d be a fool not to.

I own an American Kami knife, and it cost me just under $300.00. So that extra nearly $250 is for that awesome Era Thr3 logo. Again, totally worth it. Of course in the time that it’s taken to to write this up, they sold a blade, proving my point that there is in fact a sucker born every minute. (It also works with “A fool and his money are soon parted.”

It’s nice to know if I see anyone sporting this gear at the range (probably not…it’s too expensive to actually take out and do ssomething in) I can treat them like the guy in the $100 Affliction shirt at the end of the bar: quiet pity that a guy in his forties still thinks that shiny skulls and glowing dragons on your clothes somehow makes you a badass.

From their store: “Pushing the envelope, and taking it to the edge.” Do people still talk like that?

But…but… Patrick, did you not read this?

      https://soldiersystems.net/2015/01/04/ask-ssd-why-is-this-thing-so-darned-expensive/

I can appreciate well-made gear. I will pay for it, but it has to function, and perform better than “Paintball gear” for me to justify it. (shrugs) We’ll see how this plays out. I am not that familiar with the brand.

      • Patrick says:

Hmmm, that’s a good point. Although I would counter with: As a taxpayer, if our governement is buying any of this for our service members, I am going to be super pissed!

      • SSD says:

That doesn’t apply here. I’m pretty disappointed that you didnt understand that.

        • Patrick says:

I (and I think reverend) we both joking about that. Ok, I can’t speak for him, but the way I read his message, he understood that. I did. Promise.

Although they’ve done some interesting things like embedding a Spotify channel into their site, the very fact that they externally discuss themselves as a ‘lifestyle’ brand seems particularly dated – by about 15 years. The latest marketing flavor is all about ‘experiences’ and It seems to me they’d have more street credibility if the quit talking about their credibility and just put their stuff out there.

I can see certain types of people, aka UFC fanboys, whom might respond to the street sensibility and logo gear but if you have the money to afford their stuff ( especially their firearms ) haven’t you already moved beyond this sensibility ? Maybe not but It all seems a bit too ‘Dan Bilzerian’ and I don’t view that as having legs.

Speaking of legs …. sexy girls, Suicide Girls ( google that if you don’t know the term ) are fine and or fun but they amount to no more than UFC ring girls. It seems they could figure out a way to get the ladies more involved than just being another bit of T&A. We can go elsewhere for that.

Starting a business and building a brand is the most difficult thing I have ever done. The amount of time and energy and my favorite..Stress that goes into it is staggering. Haters are gonna hate. I think E3 did a great job with the marketing build up and release and I think their product offering was great compared to some start ups I have seen, us included. I am looking forward to watching them grow as a brand and company. Cant wait to see whats next good work E3!!

  6. Stick says:

    ODG,

I’m with you, everything starts someplace, and like my old Sensei used to say, “nothing exists in a vacuum”.

There will always be haters, some because of price, some because of aesthetics, and some because of personal reasons. I would expect to see all types coming out of the woodwork. It seems that people like to bitch, regardless of whether it effects them or not.

I’ve heard some interesting things about their bolt gun, and had a chance to handle an early proof of concept version. It isn’t going to be for poor people, but it looks like it is going to be exceedingly nice for those who can afford it. Will I be able to own or afford one, I don’t really care. I drive older trucks and don’t bother to hate the guys who drive new ones.

My advice to them, as someone who spent most of his childhood in game rooms, and pool halls… If you want to cater to the 80’s gamer: make targets based on Defender, Stargate, Elevator Action, and Spy Hunter. Otherwise I think they will do fine, someone, somewhere is yelling “shut up and take my money” at them. Best wishes.
