Just for the purposes of my own investment due diligence, does anyone know Mr. James Gabriel Smith’s Rate/Rating at time of separation?

    • James G. Smith says:

It’s AM2/AW shipmate. And your’s? Thanks for the lesson BTW! I really appreciate the fact that by you purchasing my intended domain name, you have personally taken my family’s best interest into your own hands. And being on unemployment since my separation funding for anything (including food) is obviously low. Hence, no pictures and no website. Does anyone here know the purpose of Kickstarter? It’s to raise funds for an IDEA (to sell simple camouflage purses) when you don’t have any funds! Now that you know a little about me, can I please have my intended domain name?

      • Matt K. says:

We absolutely understand how Kickstarter, and the internet, works. If you were to google “I want to start a website” every single search result would say, “Choose a domain name and spend the requisite $10 to secure it” in the first paragraph. Every single one.
You clearly do not understand my motivations, or the generous free business lesson I’ve provided you. It was careless and clueless of you to overlook this simple first step towards entrepreneurship. And there are numerous indicators that there are many more in your future.
Please, take a moment to regroup and analyze your presentation of your goals and expectations. For the sake of your family please consider any GI Bill funds you have available to you, in many regions the educational stipend is a liveable income, and you can focus on entrepreneurial classes. I did the same after my EAOS.
I would love to see you succeed. And my contribution will be the first according to whats happening on Kickstarter. I’ll be emailing you the details to transfer the domain names to you, at no cost.
Again, I knew what I was doing when I purchased your unclaimed domain names. I was helping a dude out.

I don’t get it, is this guy using Kickstarter to start his own e-commerce site or a new line of camo because the opening statement on his Kickstarter page mentions a new camo but by the next paragraph there’s no more mention of this new pattern and he starts talking about the shop.

One other thing, he really needs to get somebody to redo his logo for him. It looks like his logo started as a thumbnail that was then blown up to its current size. What he needs is for someone to redo it in a vector format so it can be exported at any size without a loss in quality.

  3. Doug says:

For a market as saturated with vendors as this, I hope they are able to come up with some truly unique ideas. Judging by their name and logo, I am doubting that creativity is their strong suit.

  4. google search engine says:

“Did you mean: kryptek camo”, in all seriousness though, krypek’s SEO alone will put this guy out of business. I hope he finds something that works for him.

  5. Patrick says:

Yeah, I hate to be negative but I don’t see this one making it’s funding goal. The end goal is somewhat ill-defined, as are most of the pledge levels. There isn’t a single picture up of either mock up t-shirts (the most common pledge prize) or what the cammo pattern itself looks like. The link that’s provided goes to a completely blank web site.

  6. Coastie says:

And this has no relation to Kryptek? You know, the already established camo maker? This won’t go well…

  7. Matt K. says:

Did his extensive research and preparation include the acquisition of the desired domain name for his publicly declared intended web address?

Hint: I already know the answer.

    • bluenoser says:

Bravo on the wizardry. The red flags keep piling up.

      • Matt K. says:

I bought the domain names because they were just sitting there, all lonely and whatnot (and before someone that’s more of a dick than me bought them).

Shipmate, call this business lesson #1. Shoot me an email and I’ll transfer the domain names to you for what I paid for them.

But this is just a taste of what it’s like out here. Have your sh*t together before you go public with ANYTHING.

        The first one is free.

Also, just as a general heads up: MS. Clean 2.0 The Double is still on Kickstarter. It is currently sitting at 58.5K out of 60K, with 40+ hours to go. So it looks like it’ll definitely be funded.

I know SSD posted about it originally when it started, but I wanted to give a reminder in case anyone was on the fence.

    Really?

  10. Stefan S. says:

    Agree 100%

  11. T says:

“I’m a very communicative, thorough, and meticulous person”
Sure, Mr. Smith. There is literally nothing to make me think this is anything more than a really bad idea. No actual image of this new camo, no website (as noted above), nothing… come on.

  12. Mike says:

And he wonders why he keeps having to give us “warnings.”

  13. Drew says:

Kinda feeling a bit empty about this myself. There seems to be a total lack of anything but a focus on having t-shirts printed, and getting a website going.

My own local “starting up a business of making things camouflage” tac-tailor started out by making stuff that people would buy, and used that to create what’s turning into an empire of really good tactical gear (unfortunately the founder was killed in a car accident, but his family and employees have kept the business going).

I’m more than willing to fund things, but I fund the manufacture of things, not websites, logos, or vaporware. If he was asking for $8k to buy a new juki sewing machine, hell yea. $8k for a website? Something smells.

    Huh?
