Haley Strategic – FlatPack

I made a quick visit to HSP’s batcave in the Phoenix area last fall. Travis Haley showed me a bunch of cool projects including prototypes of the new FlatPack. I am very happy to see it make it to market.

The D3 FlatPack is a pack designed with a unique expandable gusset system, which allows it to go from an almost flat profile to 600 cubic inches when completely expanded.

In the compressed state, the FlatPack has storage room in the main compartment for a 1 liter hydration bladder, and small items such as batteries, energy gels, and chem lights in the dedicated admin chamber. When expanded, the main compartment can fit a fully-loaded D3CR, helmet, or jacket, and the admin chamber can fit electronics and/or small binoculars.

The FlatPack fully integrates with a D3CR or D3CR-H, with the pack straps replacing the H-harness. This combination results in a light recon, patrol, or EDC/Worst Case Scenario rig. The FlatPack is also compatible with any PALS-based system including plate carriers, assault vests or other packs with external PALS webbing.

Designed with the SOF end user in mind, the FlatPack is also great as a compact carry bag for civilians. The padded inner chhamber comfortably and safely stores consumer electronics including common tablet computers and laptops up to 8″ x 12″, and can also accommodate items such as books and digital cameras.

So you can expand one of the pockets without expanding the other? Also any word as to availability in gray?

  2. Ashcrack Baqsack says:

Is it slim enough for a Crye Precision JPC as backpack?
    Thanks

    Bam. Finally!

    I like it.
Also, finally a pack in what appears as a propper Coyote brown color.

  5. Collin says:

Multicam velcro is an excellent touch.

I’m a complete douchebag who never gas anything good to say. This pack reminds me of my uncle touching me on that fishing trip, when unzipped it grows…

    Great Product!

A picture show side molle not in Multicam, but Coyote Brown or something like that.

Is there any plan to do it complete multicam?

  8. Ali.A says:

is it available for buyers outside US ? i always want something like this for 1 day fast hiking and without buying another pack use it 3 day hike.

  9. mike says:

This is amazing and I had no idea that it integrated with the D3CR that way. No Mandrake, but I’ll deal 😉

  10. RXC says:

Very nice rig. Any Kryptek color ways coming?

    • mike says:

That’s what I want to know. If there was Mandrake or Highlander I’d pull out the CC right now.

  11. Lee says:

British soldier here can I run this with my mayflower uw as this would be perfect if so could you fit a prc 354 in it with it collapsed ?

    • Travis Haley says:

      Lee,

      Yes and Yes,
As long as you have 6×4 PALS webbing on the back of your carrier you are good to go. And if the PRC354 is the one I am thinking of it will fit nicely in there. I will check into that more however.

  12. Peyton says:

May be a stupid question but what brand of shirts are those in the photos that the guys are wearing? Merino wool I presume, would love to pick up a few for my kit before deploying again….

  13. Matt says:

Can this only fit 1 liter? I believe I heard someone say it could fit 2

    • Anthony says:

“the FlatPack has storage room in the main compartment for a 1 liter hydration bladder” that’s what the article says, kinda sucks is that’s true as most other packs this size can do 2 liters.

  14. Jon C. says:

Another case of, damn, who woulda thought that. But then again, it makes total sense. Take a look at most pieces of decent luggage these days and the conceptual foundation is right there.
