Do people really spend $145 on fashionable shorts like this??? Im all for spending money on the right things, but my outlet mall Khaki cargo shorts cost me $20 and they have damn near all the same features including the reinforced knife edge in the pocket.

    • LCSO264 says:

not this people! I was seriously intrigued right up to the price point…

    • SSD says:

      Yes, they always sell out.

      • T.H says:

Thats truly amazing to me! So many other offerings out there for a fraction of the cost.

        • Pierre says:

Yes and most of them made in Vietnam. It’s sad when a Frenchmen like myself buy more American gear than Americans. Maybe it makes sense why your middle class is disappearing, all the big companies making things in Asia is decreasing blue collar manufacturing jobs.

        • Subandsand says:

I happily pay more for American made products that’s are made from American made materials.

  2. fingerfish says:

At $145/ea, supplies will last for a long, long time.

  3. Ben says:

I was very intrigued, until I read that price. $145 for what exactly? I can get an entire BDU uniform with hat and undershirt for that price. It’s a shame because i would really like a pair of these.

  4. tom says:

For $145 these things should buy my ammo pack my gear, and then craw up on me and take me to the range!

  5. bloke_from_ohio says:

Marital “life style products” are silly.

These look a lot like some imported “fashion cammo” shorts I remember seeing at a mall retailer who specialized in “pre distressed” jeans and fake vintage logo t-shirts back in the early 2000’s. The only external difference I see is beefier belt loops, and the knife reinforcement.

  6. AbnMedOps says:

I guess you could wear these long “shorts” if your range is in Boyle Heights…

    • Patrick says:

If you think these are long, take a look at their Mountain Shorts.

    • Pierre says:

You can come to France I can give you some of my speedos

People complaining is so sad. Where is the support for your US manufacturing?

      • Patrick says:

I’ll pass on the speedos, thanks. I’ll also pass on the Mountain Shorts. These Range shorts on the other hand look to be about a perfect length, at least in my mind.

    • SGT Rock says:

      Simón cárnal!

  7. Patrick says:

I have a pair of back country pants from Kitanica, and they are probably the most comfortable and well constructed pants I own. I got them on sale for about $100.

With all that said, I have to agree: $145 for shorts is a bit too pricey for me. Although I did notice if you’re willing to forego the Multicam black, and get either regular black or kakhi, you can bring that price down to a far more managable $125.

    • Pierre says:

I have looked into buying American materials and it’s very expensive! About $11.50 per yard!

  8. Rob Collins says:

These shorts provide happy finish when buttoning completes?
Like Kitanica, Vertx is better value. Propper is better value. It seems like Kitanica does moto gear great. Not quite sure why the Gucci pricing on pants..

    • Pierre says:

I can assure you that Vertx and Propper both made in Vietnam are not better quality. They are also expensive for being imported uniforms. $60-$80 for pants when their cost is very very low. I checked some information on Kitanica and they are in Northern California in Oakland. I also checked the Oakland wages and the cost of manufacturing and it’s very high compared to Asia. Do a Google search. $12.25/hour and that’s if Kitanica pays their workers minimum wage.

The people complaining about price are the same people who make fun of people driving nice cars.

If you value craftsmanship and American manufacturing like I do (and I’m French) then you should have no problem paying $150.

      • Patrick says:

I’ve never owned anything from VertX, but a buddy of mine got some cargo pants from them slightly before I got my Kitanica back country pants.

His are starting to come apart, and has bitched about them on a few occasions.

Mine (while worn just as often) still look pristine.

The best part? I paid about $30 more for mine. You get what you pay for.

  9. Strike-Hold says:

All this bitching and moaning about the price….

What you guys fail to grasp is that:
    A. KITANICA products are all 100% American-made with American materials – that costs money…
    B. Their products are not in the same league as the cheap stuff in terms of design and construction, they’re more complicated in cut so as to give a better fit and better performance – that costs money…
    C. They only do small runs of their items so that they can ensure that each garment is absolutely the best quality it can be before its shipped to a customer – small runs and exception quality control costs money…

You wanna pay Walmart prices, you get Walmart quality. You want high quality, you gotta pay for it…

    • The Pig says:

Yup..That about sums it up. Not to mention taxes, overhead, etc…

    • Subandsand says:

Someone get this man a whiskey for getting it.

    • Riceball says:

That may be true, but, do you really need $100+ pair of shorts? Last I checked, there’s not much tactical work to be done wearing shorts and I, certainly, could never justify paying $145 for something that I’m just going to be wearing for everyday wear when I’m out and about or grilling in the backyard. In fact, I don’t believe in paying large sums of money just because it’s made in the US, esp. for something that I need to be super reliable because my life might depend on it or it’s something that I wouldn’t be able to easily replace if it broke. If I was still in the Corps and knowing what I know now and I were to be deployed, I’d probably spend the money on some of this Made in the US gear for the reliability but shorts would still not make the list.

  10. Thatguy says:

I want a pair, but honestly, I’d rather get the backcountry pants for that price

  11. I think SSD post items from Kitanica just to hear all the people bitch-n-moan about the price . . . it is great fun and one of the best spectator sports around!

I think short pants at the range are somewhat silly and potentially dangerous. Just my opinion, YMMV.

Now; if they made these shorts in MC Tropic . . . . . I’d be on these like stink on Scheiße!

    Take care,
