Great they’re coming out with new color schemes. Unfortunately Kitanica pants aren’t for me due to their ‘complex’ and overall busy design.
My ranger green Crye’s G3 field pants are as far as I’m prepared to go, while also quite busy with their 10-pocket design, they are but much ‘lower profile’ than Kitanica.

Don’t fry me for this, it’s just how I feel personally about these pants, that’s all.

I can’t fault you for this, I feel the same way. If these were a uniform item, that’d be a different story. (Hint hint, AOR?)
I do like the ranger green though, and would love to see their other options become available in it, the Brush Pants specifically.

You’re on to something. Pretty sure a Crye JPC weighs less than these pants.

I’ll never understand the webbing on the pants..

Blackhawk, sorry, Blackhawk! put MOLLE on the backside of some of their pants for a while, I have no idea of what they were thinking. I couldn’t even use them for pen loops.

I have a pair of Blackahwks with the MOLLE on the back and it confused when I first got them and now, a few years later, I’m still confused as to what they’re supposed to be for. But aside from that and the tiny back/wallet pocket they’re a pretty decent pair of pants.

I didn’t know anyone wore Kitana. The pants look nice, but with no public track record of imagine purple would prefer Cryer or less expensive Vertex or LBX, or stick with proppers or 5.11

Have used Kitanica for some years now … Sure they are not “low-profile”, sure they are pricey, sure they are “complex” …. BUT just try them. I was sold on day one out on the range or in “interesting environments”.
I use both the Gen II’s and the ASP’s as travel and work-wear. Could not be happier.
Besides, in Africa/Central or South America/Middle-East or other interesting places anything made by Crye, 5:11, Vertx or the like is not low-profile either!
    LOL

It may be heresy, and while I appreciate them being made in America, there have been places I’ve been where I didn’t necessarily want a little American Flag visible on my clothing. It’s hard enough when you are 6’3″ and have blue eyes to not be the first one dragged out of the bus in Antioquia.

      • Ross says:

        Indeed, that is true.
In those places I normally just wear “hippie-gear” when needing to stay unnoticed.
Stuff sourced locally … Nothing, absolutely nothing resembling anywhere close to military or high-end outdoor style gear. No “safari-style” stuff or photo-vests.
However, working overtly … I like Kitanica and similar gear.
I do distinctly remember “Spooks” showing up in Africa, dressed in nondescript khakis … paired with very identifiable Randolph sunglasses and wingtip shoes. LOL

These and the Cryes look like the pants astronauts wore on the Space Shuttle and ISS.

I’ve decided that the 5 pockets on jeans are my limit, any more and I can’t find anything and eventually I’ll send a backup gun, notebook or digital camera through the laundry. That would be bad.

I have a couple of their pants and shorts. Expensive yeah, but have they lasted? Yep. Love them.

  7. Grump says:

If you like the pockety/tacticool look, but don’t want to take out a loan, then try the Truspec Xtreme pants. They don’t seem to get much press, but they’re actually pretty good.

The MOLLE on Kitanica pants are in a good position for a small pouch of some kind. Problem with most tactical pants is the lack of a dedicated knife pocket in a good location and large enough for a “real” knife. I’m not carrying my Zero Tolerance, Strider, Emerson, etc. where it will get in the way of my hand or get needlessly scratched up by my keys.
