hmmm…smart move, I’ll probably still get the original version but I bet they will sell a ton. I talked to a few who the magnesium one was just a little over their price tolerance.

  2. Chris says:

I love my Magnesium KMR. The weight difference between it and my Aero Precision KeyMod is amazing. I am loving the weight savings with the KMR, of course my previous rifle is an LMT MRP, so just about anything is lighter.

That said, this Alpha rail should sell well. The overall design of the BCM KMR is awesome. I have turned into huge fan BCM, all around great stuff.

  3. Sweet!

Though I’d take Picatinny rail over Keymod, any day.

    • SSD says:

Why would you want to lug all of that Pic rail around?

    • Never mind Paul everybody ; he needs help- he actually prefers the new Trijicon red dot sight over an Aimpoint Micro- hell even Pat Macnamara won’t support that position and he has been a poster child for Trijicon. Paul – please seek professional help immediately !!!

      • Thomas says:

I understand your levity, but are people actually having problems with the Trijicon MRO?

      • davan says:

I thought the MRO would allow me to stay in my lane longer, give out my number faster, and receive my warning with haste

  4. ithejury says:

Would consider if it didn’t have silly keymod all over it.

    • SSD says:

      That’s kind of their thing.

      • Tetsuo says:

Yup. Though most people were introduced to the Keymod via John’s NSR rails, the keymod spec was designed by Eric Kincel back when he was at Vltor. And now Eric is the head of BCM’s R&D dept for the past couple years. Keymod is very much his baby. M-Lok being a direct competitor to Keymod and from a competing company (Magpul), supporting the M-Lok spec probably isn’t in BCM’s best interest. Which is a shame since while I do have a KMR outfitted upper and other Keymod accessories, I’ve never personally been a fan of the ikea look nor the way the parts lock up. M-Lok is just more streamlined and tactile-wise friendly and could really benefit from the weight savings of a magnesium rail.

That said, I’ve yet to encounter a rail as elegant and KISS as the CMR. Inexpensive mountable rail accessories that are light weight and robust. It’s hard to dislike. Apparently Lantac-USA agrees since they’re copying the overall CMR design for their Spada-S rail. *awkward*

  5. Thomas says:

Were people having problems with the original breaking?

    • BravoMike says:

I think it’s more of a cost saving measure, not a question of strength or durability. That said, the finish on the aluminum version should hold up better.

      • Thomas says:

Hey BravoMike. Thank you for the response. I wondered if they used 5000 series aluminum for the first rail. My engineering friends do not have a high opinion of 5000 series aluminum in regards to strength.

Have a good one. I have the original KMR. Plenty durable.

      • Seamus says:

I agree on cost saving measure. It makes a lot of sense to hit a lower price point in a really competitive market. But as for the finish, if a guy worries about scratches on his rifle he needs to have a man card taken away.

    • Jon says:

I doubt it. These are just cheaper. They will be offered alongside the original KMRs.

    • Mike D says:

IIRC, it was due to a scarcity of the materials for manufacturing the original KMR.

  6. bulldog76 says:

    any chance for mlok

    • BCM says:

Sorry, but none at this time.

      • bulldog76 says:

        oh well one can dream

      • Thomas says:

This is obvious 101, but if you guys offered both you would absolutely dominate the market. You have the best customer service, the best marketing, the best spokesmen (Haley, Frank Proctor, Defoor) and some of the best products on the market.

  7. T says:

    Out of stock in 5…4…3…

  8. Romper says:

Was lucky enough to get to run the first one while hosting EAG in 2012, loved it then and now own 3 KRM rail guns. Was previously running either DD LITE or LaRue, both are still good, but the KMR offers so much weight savings and easier to get your hand around that it is hard to turn back. Doing this as a cheaper alternative is smart. Keep the good stuff rolling guys!

  9. Joe says:

    What’s the aluminum series? Finish?

  10. Larry says:

Does it bend less than the original?

When is their M-LOK version coming out. Keymod is just not my thing. I am old school any how, and 1913 rails are just fine by me. I dig the Centurion Arms C4 series.

Until the military dumps 1913 Keymod and M-LOK will only have so much penetration. I do think Keymod is going to lose out to M-LOK in the long run. M-LOK just makes more sense all around and has Magpul behind it.

    • Shawn says:

An M-LOK version will never come out. BCM is 100% behind keymod, and employs one of the guys responsible for its inception. I agree with you that M-LOK > Keymod.

  11. Ben H says:

I hope this one is stronger than the original. Had mine for about 2 weeks before I ripped a hand stop off the bottom rail. Guess I’ll spend abother few hundred dollars to find out.
