Long overdue, seeing the vets at the dedication for the WW2 memorial was moving. Too bad the WWI generation won’t have enough that same experience.

The National WWI Memorial is in Kansas City MO. The Liberty Memorial was completed and dedicated on November 11, 1926. In 2006 it was declared National Historic Landmark. In 2014, the President signed legislation recognizing the Liberty Memorial as a national memorial.

Precisely. The Liberty Memorial is awesome, and being run by people who truly know their stuff. It also just recently broke successive attendance records. Gives me hope for the future.

Did they remove the existing WW1 memorial from the National Mall?

Being in KC now, I am very familiar with the WW1 memorial. Their museum is top-notch, too – affiliated with the Smithsonian, it is up to the old standards of that organization (before it became super-PC).
