TACO Covered Group

SWANSBORO, North Carolina – Nov. 27, 2015 – High Speed Gear has a history of producing some of the most versatile most versatile tactical pouches and platforms in the industry. A proven performer, HSGI continues to show tremendous popularity in the law enforcement and military markets worldwide. Our lengthy list of top tier operators includes U.S. and allied special forces, state and local tactical units, and hundreds of federal agencies.

In keeping with that standard, and from popular demand, High Speed Gear is proud to release its TACO – Covered line. This line features our five signature TACOs, including the X2R TACO – Covered, Double Decker TACO – Covered, Pistol TACO – Covered and Extended Pistol TACO – Covered. These TACOs are constructed from the same 1000D Cordura, shock cord and proprietary polymer brackets, but now include a buckled flap. This flap, which provides extra protection and security for your essentials, is built with a side release buckle for quick and silent removal of contents, as well as with hook and loop Velcro for additional retention. Each covered TACO includes a silencing patch for the hook Velcro. The TACO – Covered line is available now.

    Mind Blown.
with all the crazy new tacos coming out I never would have guessed this, genius.

    • Rob Collins says:

and you can put the flap behind the magazines if you need quick access. Agree, genius…

      • Kerbert says:

        So it’s a regular mag pouch then….

The entire point of the Taco I thought was to eliminate the flap and have an open top with solid retention. IMO this design is going against their original philosophy.

If anything please engineer something better than the Malice clip. Number one reason I don’t use Tacos

        • Clampitt says:

It addresses why the flap is there. Additional security for what it’s holding Crawling through thick mud and brush will make you lose all kinds of things. Not to mention jumping from aircraft.

Being able to pull something out quickly means nothing if it isn’t there when you need it.

          • Kerbert says:

I understand the extra security but at that point I much rather have a cheaper and more slim pouch offered by other companies. The Tacos are already bulky pouches compared to other slimmer options. IMO there are better options for flapped pouches.

          • straps says:

Yup, pretty sure this is mostly about parachute ops.

The new jack MALICE are much thinner and less of a PITA. One of the other forums introduced them as an EMDOM creation because TT only sells the new MALICE with Fight Light kit (or at the Lakewood store).

A full-on alternative is the WTF band/clips which is a MALICE strap made from a material similar to Blue Force Gear’s HW mount material.

The HSGI clips sit unused in my gear box.

        • defensor fortismo says:

Well they actually are making their own clips now, not to mention the belt mounted versions that use a velcro wrap instead.

          • Kerbert says:

I don’t want any kind of clip, I want them to make a webbing strap. Ideal combo would be a Taco with Blue Force Helium Whisper

            • straps says:

Have you seen the WTF straps available at OC Tactical? Because that’s an 80%+ solution to what you’re asking for.

I see lot of guys run a few tacos with a few flapped pouches, so they have a mix of security and speed. This will allow you to have more consistency between the two, and still have some of the advantages of the original tacos (like one of the easiest re-insertions I’ve ever used). This will never replace the originals, and I doubt they will sell anywhere near as many, but it seems like a logical supplement to them.

Also, find me a flapped double AK(/FAL/AR10/etc) mag pouch that sucks less and I’ll eat my hat. ‘Cause I’ve looked….

    • JKifer says:

Here, here… this is exactly how I run my rig… x2 X2R tacos for speed, and x2 triple AR TT flapped pouches for security…

      • elliot says:

Yup. Double X2Rs on the hip and a covered BFG triple tenspeed on the chest.

The flaps on these covered tacos look like they’d get in the way. Couldn’t they have made the flaps shorter and have them clip higher up on the pouch?

  3. Bradkaf308 says:

Does anybody make a mag pouch, 2 or3 mags, with an old school flap that conceals the mags?

  4. Airborne_fister says:

Was it just me or does the video have nothing to do with this new pouch?

A fully enclosed Taco… = Burrito, right? *runs off to copyright office*
