Someone asked them if they had a name for it. They said, “Its a vest. Its a goddamn vest.”

  2. Greg says:

Proof that the Kitanica name label alone costs $200, because that’s a $30 vest otherwise.

    • Dev says:

Sorry, but where can I find a goose down vest / gilet for 30 USD?

    • SSD says:

Yes, please show us this American made $30 down vest.

      • Riceball says:

Question is, for $200 does it do anything more than any other down vest not made ins the US for a fraction of the cost? For high end tac gear if you’re a PMC, some of spec-ops or whatever I can understand, but this just looks like a run of the mill puffy vest that you just wear around for everyday wear. Do people do a lot tactical type stuff with these types of vests that justify the $200 price tag?

More importantly, why are you so concerned with how other people spend their money?

        • Dev says:

The cheapest genuine down vest I can find on the internets is 99 and that’s after a discount. I’m not sure if it’s even goose down.

Bottom line is down isn’t cheap, especially if it’s goose down. Add that on to US labour and materials and you get that final price.

I like artificial replacements like GLoft myself (damp performance mainly) but goose down is great.

My apologies everyone, too much snark in my coffee earlier. The sticker shock blinded me.

  3. Jeremy says:

Vests protect you from all sorts of things. Bulletproof vests protect you from bullets. Life vests protect you from drowning. Vests like these protect you from beutiful women.

  4. Bill says:

    Something’s wrong: it looks “normal.”

  5. Desert Lizard says:

    Good looking apparel.

  6. Luke says:

The materials for that vest are probably dirt cheap; it’s the handling that is a huge PITA, I don’t think you could pay me to make a down vest.

I know Marmot is/was trying to make some MIUSA down vests, now I’m curious what their price point will be.
