Blue Force Gear – ULoop

One of the coolest things to come out of this year’s SHOT Show is the ULoop.  I’m mentioning it again because it may have been lost in the noise of our SHOT coverage.

BFG has given it the code name of ‘Uber Loop’.  It’s a quick-detach version of the Universal Wire Loop, and can be quickly attached to smaller eyelets found on HK, SIG and FN weapons. In fact, it will attach on several weapons that don’t have sling attachment points such as through eyelets, holes in railed handguards, and on KeyMod rails.

I really like the versatility of the ULoop and the fact that the coated cable is quiet and won’t tear up plastic components on a weapon.

Additionally, the sling can remain attached to the ULoop and it is simple to attached and detach from the weapon.

Available in 1.00″ and 1.25″ sizes, the ULoop can easily be painted.

What I’m seeing, unless there’s constant tension on the loop you risk the ball detent slipping out of the retainer or popping out when it’s getting roughed around. The actual metal braided loop itself is nice because it’s resistant to burning off (hot barrels on an mg) but I’m not a fan of how it attaches. Maybe a locking bar going across or some sort of additional cover for ball on the wire would help…

So you haven’t actually used it? Jim D is right in that it’s not coming apart on you.

    • Steve says:

Same concern I had – after handling one at SHOT, I can tell you that you’ve probably got a better chance of breaking the polymer than having it come loose inadvertently. It’s difficult to insert/remove the ball w/o the sling in place. Once you add the sling, you’ve got even more material blocking the ball from moving.

Between the rigidity of the cable, the fit of the end in the slot, and a sling being threaded through over it… it’s not coming out without some seriously focused effort.

You basically need to treat this as a fixed product, not a QD one.

      Opposable thumbs help

I would like that comment if this was facebook.

      • Jim D says:

I’m a fan. I put it thru an MLOK rail to avoid buying a $20 QD mount that would just add more weight (plus the weight of the swivel).

Passing it through some cooling holes in a rail makes for a very solid and lightweight front sling attachment (other than the Proctor sling, which I’m concerned will spin and tangle too much).

I can’t think of a lighter or more cost effective tool for mounting a sling on a rifle.

“Code named the “Uber Loop” it is a quick-detach version of our popular Universal Wire Loop”. According to the item description, you simply push down on the loop and pull it out of the body. If someone’s never used their wire loop products in any capacity other than a flat range then it’s understandable why they would have no issue with the product design.

Try it, if it comes apart on you during intended use, I’ll buy it from you for what you paid for it. I’d send you one but the sample they gave me at SHOT Show already went to another guy who saw me with it and wanted one badly.

SSD I am the guy you gave that ULoop to. I’ve been to the range probably 8 times since SHOT. Running around shooting ipsic targets etc… Honestly I haven’t noticed it on my carbine (which is a good thing). I’ve been hiking around my property (hunting coyotes) with it too. Lots of topography, crouching etc. It just works. No Issues so far. Thanks Eric!

I’ll back up that SSD offer.

For belt-fed weapons we recommend our Aluminum UWL’s and we have thousands in use in that capacity. The Uloop is perfectly suited for rifles, carbines, subguns and pdw’s and was carefully designed to lock and be secure in these applications. Since this Uloop is molded, I would not use it on MG’s. Our Vickers SAW and M240 Slings feature Nomex and metal hardware for a reason.

        • rgr says:

so…my point is proven. For smaller arms, yes. Yes, I have used the UWL for belt fed weapons. Broken a few, but hey, nothing lasts forever. Enjoy your ULoop at the range and diddle it all you want to at the SHOT Show.

          • SSD says:

So now, it’s a different story with you. Before it would come open during use but now it’s that it won’t hold up to sustained fore on an MG? Which is it?

            • Jason says:

^^^One of the reasons I love that there’s no editing of posts here. Now you’ve gotta choose which one is your REAL beef with the product and then back it up lol.

          • AlexC says:

I was also concerned with using the UWL with the FN MAG. Instead of being a negative Nancy on the Internet about it my solution was simply to loop the sling for the GPMG through…

            TWO UWL!

Two is one and one is none, right?

I’m sure you could just as easily do the same thing with this sling hardware and it would be good to go.

        • 86MTN says:

Any chance you’re working on one for MGs?

          • Ashley says:

Yes! It is a slightly different design and has a metal body to prevent melting if it makes contact with MG barrel. Watch SSD or sign up for our Newsletter to see it first.

Don’t get me wrong, for smaller weapons it’s a great idea.

I’m just upset that the picture proves I’m not the only guy in the world with a green camo SCAR. This would work great on it.

  6. Tested mine today. Will lift 100lbs without even showing signs of flexing, very well made piece.
