Trailblazers Gear Load Out

Nick Koumalatsos was hired to take a team of scientists into Bolivia to uncover the potentially life-changing discoveries for the newest Discover Channel Series “Trailblazers”.

Triple canopy jungle can be one of the most dangerous places on earth.

Almost everything in the jungle tries to protect it self and that means it wants to hurt you. Harsh climates, dangerous terrain, poisonous plants and insects and hostile natives.

Everything from a woobie, to a machete in Nick’s Gear Load Out for Discovery Channel’s Trailblazers can be found here: www.nickkoumalatsos.com/the-guide/2016/5/3/the-trailblazers-load-out

  1. Bill says:

I think he needs a smaller knife and a bigger first aid pack

  2. Brendan says:

Man that looks like a blast… How the hell do I get a gig like that?? All this Colombia and Peruvian jungle/monster mosquito adventures…. Damn lol

    • TXCavBoy says:

not fun , i prefer concrete jungle
When we were in a Honduras jungle.
i jump across some down tree and fallen in to a crevice. My section leader almost has a heart-attack because he thought i was gone.

  3. I have watched the show twice. That is enough for me I think.

Is that the knife he accidently stabbed his hand with?

  4. madman says:

with all the trouble in that region, i still think packing a gun somewhere.

  5. Redbeard33 says:

    Mystery Ranch Legend pack?

  6. babola says:

Gerber’s done well with this one 🙂

  7. kemp says:

why would you bring a gtx jacket to triple canopy jungle?

  8. Jester says:

    Gerber…wow.

    • Grump says:

My thoughts exactly. Wonder how much Gerber paid him to take it.

    • babola says:

Some of their stuff is decent, but majority leaves much to be desired.

US Army issued MP600 is pretty good, although basic and clunky.

  9. D.B. says:

Machetes, knives, multitools, “survivor’s packs”…all by Gerber. Seems like a great sponsorship deal with the Discovery Channel.

Isn’t Bear Grills peddling enough of this mediocre stuff on multitude of his ‘Man vs whatever’ shows anyway?

And I agree with the above statement, pretty much only decent Gerber product still in production is the venerable Multiplier 600. And maybe few older knives, now discontinued.

  10. JC says:

Katrrimor and Craghopper gear that’s made by the same company that makes the bear grylls branded stuff – absolute garbage.

    • SSD says:

Craghopper makes the Bear Grylls clothing. Speaking from experience?

      • JC says:

My bad regatta actually own Craghopper but my point still stands, stuff is poor quality made in the far east. Craghopper of yesteryear is a different entity altogether. It’s a TV show so anything being used is either provided for free to the show or actually the company pays for the product placement. That’s the way the cookie crumbles unfortunately. Karrimor actually make some good quality military gear that the British Army used to use in USAF.

(This is all in my opinion, I don’t want to be accused of slander or anything like that)
