‘Lethal Force’ by Tony Long

Some of SSDs readers, and those in the trade, may remember Tony from his time with Edgar Brothers but may not know that having retired in 2008 after 33 years service with the London Met and 25 years with the Met’s Specialist Firearms team, in 2014 he was charged with the death of an armed suspect who together with two others were on route to rob and kill rival drug dealers. Tony faced a murder trial in 2015 and was rightly acquitted. He has written the book ‘Lethal Force‘ to put the record straight and explain the difficulties of being an armed officer within a police service and a society that is predominately unarmed. I can’t wait to read it.

    Eric,

Any chance you can track on this and post something when the book becomes available? I don’t know about Chris before this, it seems you know him and may get a copy, but am definitely interested in reading this. I tried Amazon and Google with zero results.

TL is a great friend and associate. Hilariously funny, sincere, and a superb operator. Can’t wait to read this book.

Clicking the link takes you to the UK Amazon site. I clicked the Kindle order and it says it will be out July 7th. I hope Tony makes a ton of $$(GBP)!! He certainly put up with a bunch of bs.

I think I’ll pick up a copy as well. Considering how easily the press over there vilifies any law enforcement carrying a weapon as evil, almost along the same lines as labeling them a terrorist, I think I’ll buy the book to show my support for Britian’s Blue Line.

    Cannot wait to read this.
Had the amazing pleasure of being his guest in and around the UK.
    Humble – Hero…

    Cheers TL!

I had to Google who he is. I actually read through an entire Daily Mail article (ugh), but the comment upvotes on him are remarkably positive.

It seems the Brits are a sociologically sheep-like people that have been bred to think predominantly as victims. This is obviously the cause of their further decline. We are a few steps behind them. This sheepdog was persecuted for doing exactly what was required to secure the safety of his sheep. Unfortunately this is also too common amongst our current administration and their supporters who follow along in lock-step with a drone mentality destined to reduce America to a feeble semblance of its former glory. We need to wake up before it’s too late. Persecutions of this type can not be tolerated. We must protect our brother sheepdog as we protect the sheep from the wolves in our midst.

Feel free to send this out to mass media as there is plenty more to say!

Yeah, well, with this trend of Lawn Forcement personnel styling themselves as “sheep dogs”, ‘protecting’ and herding us poor, helpless, brainless little sheep, then American society will continue to deteriorate into the same Collectivist ooze as Britain and most of Europe. I for one prefer my cops to be (armed) peace officers, judiciously and as wisely as practical, policing an overwhelming peaceable, armed, and self-reliant populace of Citizens, which is unfortunately checker-boarded by easily identifiable pockets of criminality and chronic dysfunction.

My point is that “sheepdog” implies the Police as an elite overseer, in the service of political masters, with the citizenry infantilized as helpless and hapless Wards of the State.
