Alta 3D Knee Pads

Alta recently unveiled these new 3D knee pads, featuring a unique tread by Vibram making your kneepads as tough as your boots.

At IWA, they had this new tread design in both AltaFLEX and AltaContour styles.

They aren’t available yet on their website, but I expect to see them by this summer.

SSD, is the treaded cap a hard plastic or a softer rubber?

    • SSD says:

It’s like a boot tread. Not super hard but it’s not like a gummi eraser either.

Anyone who spends a lot of time indoors on linoleum, tile, marble, etc will appreciate this.

These things better outperform all other knee pads on the market to justify them looking THAT fugly. Even those weird Israeli robocop kneepads look arguably better than this. Maybe it’s just me, but when I buy equipment I always make sure the performance is the best I can get for the money. Looks are secondary. That being said, I like to wear good-looking gear a whole lot more than ugly but utilitarian kit.

They might be ugly but i’m interested in them. Working on the decks of helos beats up your knees and conventional kneepads slide around. If you’re working in birds or doing aerial sniper platforms out of 60s or yankees, this might be an option.

If it looks stupid, but works, then it isn’t stupid.

After that, the question of how well it works compared to other kneepads becomes the real question. The vibram tread does look nice, but I’m not going to pick up a set unless I see a top notch review.

They look like they caught a case of the gonosyphaherpalitus…. on a serious note..the deadbird kneepads are the absolute shit.. these ones are probably great, but I bet you that tread would get all kinds of clogged up in the mud and shit, that is for us ground pounders..

    • Stefan S. says:

If you are getting dirt in the treads you probably have other things to worry about. Some of us former ground pounders sucked it up with NO knee pads.

      • JKifer says:

been there too bro, but why work harder if you can work smarter? my knees and ankles are shit from all those jumps and humps..
