Iran Sanctions 15 US Companies for Supporting Israel

According to a story published earlier this week by Iran Press TV, the Iranian government has imposed sanctions on 15 US firms which they claim support Israel. This move is in retaliation for US sanctions against companies and individuals in China, North Korea and the United Arab Emirates, which it claims have aided Iran’s Ballistic Missile program.

These Iranian sanctions mean that “any transactions with these companies and businesses shall be prohibited, their assets shall be subject to freezing, and no visas shall be issued for individuals holding positions in or associated with these corporations,” according to Iran Press TV’s report.

The companies under sanction are:
-Beni Tal security company
-United Technologies
-Raytheon
-ITT Corporation
-Re/Max (yes, Re/Max)
-Oshkosh Corporation
-Magnum Research Inc.
-Kahr Arms
-M7 Aerospace LP
-Military Armament Corporation has
-Lewis Machine and Tool Company
-Daniel Defense
-Bushmaster Firearms International
-O.F. Mossberg & Sons
-H-S Precision, Inc.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry may expand the list.

  1. Lt. Dan says:

Wait, why are those companies selling stuff to Iran to begin with?

And how in God’s name did Oshkosh end up on the same list anywhere as Raytheon?

  2. Jack Boothe says:

Are you sure about that? Have you seen what Iranians leaders wear. Some GarAnimals mix and match and OSH KOSH overalls might be a step up for them sartorially speaking.

  3. Alex says:

Oshkosh! Always standing in the way of Iran!

  4. Phil says:

  5. Marcus says:

When’s the last time anybody’s seen the Iranians with a DDV51, an LMT, Mossberg or a Bushmaster?

    Yeah, me either.

This reads more like a wish list.

  6. bloke_from_ohio says:

I doubt Raytheon and Daniel Defense are selling much kit to those guys. This smells highly symbolic.

DD could not ask for better advertising though…

    • Steak TarTar says:

Raytheon sells thousands of missiles to Israel

      • bloke_from_ohio says:

The “those guys” in my comment meant Iran not the Israelis. All the companies on the list absolutely sell stuff to Israel and I am cool with it.

Since the companies likely have limited dealings with Iran the sanctions are of limited economic value. Sanctioning a company that does not sell anything in or to your country is silly since there will be little if anything to seize.

Americans are not really safe in Iran regardless of who they work for. I cannot imagine many board members of the aforementioned companies are clambering for visa. Ergo this is just posturing.

  7. Doc Ras says:

This is funny as hell, call it a badge of honor. I doubt any of them had business with the Iranians anyway.

    • Pete says:

Is there a way to apply for Iranian sanctions?
That would be more epic than just another internet divinity degree.

It did make want to drop some greenbacks on night vision and a new AR.

  8. ecdh says:

the under-radar interaction between Iran, Israeli and Western companies is the biggest con job in the last 50 years of mid east relations. id be more interested in who didnt make the list…

  9. Bill says:

Word on the street is Raytheon has some sanction busting technology that may show up on the Ayatollah’s porch.

  10. dan187 says:

If any of ya’ll bothered to read the post. The “sanctions” are for supporting Israel. Why would Iran sanction companies for selling to Iran?

I’m to young to have say, “I miss when reading was fundamental.”

    • Klip says:

Not too young to miss the correct homonym, however!

Although, I did have the same reaction. Iran is puffing its chest for the home audience; I don’t imagine anyone else in the world is fooled by Iran sanctioning companies that produce items that are probably subject to State Department approval.

Ironically, Re/Max is the only company that could be hurt by this as Iran has some truly beautiful real estate. Maybe they’ll shed a sad tear when they’re done chuckling.

    • bloke_from_ohio says:

You read the article right but missed the point of the comments. This is funny precisely because Iran is targeting companies that sell to Israel, but presumably don’t do much business with them. And therefore the move is meaningless.

Sanctions only really have teeth on companies who sell stuff within the markets you can control or influence. In this case, Iran can’t do much outside their own domestic market. The rest of the world will keep buying guns from DD, missiles from RMS, and trucks from Oshkosh and so on. Assuming none of the affected outfits did much if any business with Iran before, they won’t miss it now that it is gone.

Hence everybody has a case of the giggles.

  11. Ex Coelis says:

(as a Canadian Lakefield/Mossberg 400G owner) O.F. Mossberg & Sons made this laughable sanction list? WTF for?!!! Awww, biite me all over. Obviously, more hot air from Iran’s merry band of media Beat & Blow boys… Doc Ras probably said it best. Bottom line; they need our goods, a helluva lot more than we need theirs. NEXT!!

  12. sabasarge says:

One more (of many) reason to like my Kahr P45 ?

    • BillC says:

      No.

      • sabasarge says:

Why not? Thousands of rounds and still put’n ’em where I want ’em.
And if they support Israel, all the better. I can only go by my experience, and I’ve got no complaints.

        • BillC says:

Just to be clear, I’m not saying your individual Kahr is bad or that you are wrong for liking it. I’m just explaining my “no”.

However, Kahr overall has a questionable reputation in terms of quality. They have had parts break at higher rates, sooner, compared to other brands, metallurgy issues, and magazine issues (mags have been known to dump rounds). I’m also not saying they are necessarily going out of their way to make an inferior product, but they sure aren’t going out of their way to make an amazing product.

While you may have had a great individual experience, for which I am happy for, that is just a sample of one. Kahr overall, when compared to the quality of other brands, is inferior. This is my takeaway. I’d prefer not to take a gamble if I don’t have to.

Information like that is actually hard to find, because if you search these questions or issues, you won’t find them on most internet gun forums or groups. You’ll get an echo chamber of people praising the products they buy (people get rrrreeeally emotional about guns they buy, and make or hide a ton of excuses for issues they do have). Anytime anybody tries to bring up inherent issues with a particular firearm, they get blasted as a troll or hater or something. You have to ask the people who rent out the guns, return the to manufactures for repair, repair them themselves, and instructors who see the pool of pistols failures in classes.

  13. Dellis says:

I showed my wife this list, she laughed at the stupidity of Iranian leaders. I said my favorite gun maker, Daniel Defense, made the list for doing business with Israel……so can I buy another DD to show myw support?

    Still waiting for her answer

  14. Alienmode says:

Oy vey! In all seriousness the situation between these countries has become an exercise in absurdism. Mostly I’m just sick to death of hearing all the meaningless turfing between these supposedly modern world powers. It is as though the entire Middle East is run by children. The whole thing is just laughable.

  15. Brett says:

Cue huge corporate eye-roll and shrug.

    • Lcon says:

More likely Competitor American companies will send letters to Iran asking to be Sanctioned.

  16. Victor DiCosola says:

Making notes to support these companies more than ever!
