I guess Aimpoint had enough of LAV

I think we all kind of have. Here’s the formula:

      1. He imparts some decent advice
      2. He gets picked up by some company
      3. He acts like X company is the absolute best
      4. He starts to get uppity. Anytime someone moderately questions something and/or finds a different way; he tosses out his 30 year old exploits like he was Moses atop the hill.
      5. He jumps to another brand.

Part of me admires it, part of me thinks he isn’t getting younger.

Eventually he’ll be teaching at Tactical Response.

I neither like nor dislike the man’s public persona. I am sure at home and in private he is a total prince.

Tatiana is a MILF though so it all works out

  2. COP in Multicam says:

I’d bet you guys have nailed it.

The “Director of Training at Howell’s Gun Shop in Gray, Maine” is “Replacing” Larry Vickers…

Special Operations veteran, highly experienced industry consultant, and world renowned firearms, accessories, optics, shooting, tactics, instructor, etc, etc.

Sounds like Mrs. Whitlock is merely getting another industry insider hook-up. Most likely she won’t personally sell one Aimpoint but hiring her earns some Aimpoint employee brownie points in his online/D Level firearms industry clique. Most like the COPerator / Cops in Multicam clique.

    • Jester says:

How does one gain entry into this elite group?

      • COP in Multicam says:

        Very easy.

(1.) Find a clique inside a FB group or online forum. Preferably one with both, plus a magazine connection / Youtube page would not hurt.

(2.) Determine which four year pre 9/11 Marine / small town cop / five man department SWAT Team “Operator” is the coolest in the group.

(3.) Suck up to him by agreeing with everything he says online, attend his classes (No doubt he portrays himself as an “Instructor”, promote his classes, do a Youtube video supporting him, etc.

(4.) Support any company that gives him free crap, and promote their products.

        (5.) Buy Multicam

Follow these easy steps and do them correctly and their is a good chance you can get free crap or even endorsement deals yourself. All from inside the same echo chamber / clique but who cares..you will be a new Internet “Operator” and can start teaching classes now as well.

  3. Gentlemen,
Really? No one could or should replace Larry. He is an industry professional and decorated vetran who is NOT replacable. I am honored to join the Aimpoit team and represent the brand. Sadly, such commentary will follow any announcement of a female choosing the professional track in this industry. That being said, I welcome you to come by the Aimpoint booth at NRAAM and say hello in person.

    • SG says:

Haters, as they say, gonna hate.

Congratulations on the new opportunity, and there’s plenty of people who’s opinions of this are not reflected by much of the above commentary.

  4. Dellis says:

I for one never understood the lashing Larry gets and to a good deal Hackathorn also.

    Congrats Tatiana

the whole “make fun of LAV” thing is kind of a meme In the cyber gun community based on a series of very public blowups and exchanges he had specifically on arfcom and with a few other websites. I personally have no issue with him. I’m just repeating a punchline and meme. Is it disrespectful? Yup. But no different than our misdirected anger at a whole host of other people and topics.

Nobody lashes out on Ken Hackathorn, ken is the type of guy that will urge you to use whatever car oil you got in your garage while LAV will be like “buy FireClean!”

      • SSD says:

There’s always an internet tough guy who will talk shit about Ken. Of course, he’ll never actually find himself in a situation where he’s confronted face-to-face anyone that he talk shit about, so using a nom-de-merde is kind of pointless.
