Elite Survival Systems Purchases The Recon Brand From Kit Bag of Australia

Elite Survival Systems® has recently finalized the purchase of the Recon® Sleeping Bag brand from Kit Bag of Australia.

Recon®, known for high-quality, purpose-built sleeping systems and accessories, has been on the forefront of technological innovation since 1998. Recon® is known for developing ultra-lightweight, compact sleeping systems that will withstand the test of time. Recon® bags are currently in use by the RAAF and NATO, and in use by U.S. forces, as well as other forces worldwide. Since 2011, Elite Survival Systems has been the exclusive North American distributor of the Recon® sleeping bag line. The company will continue to produce the existing Recon® line, and plans to expand the product offering.

    I’m not really sure what insulation this is describing. Interested in a center zip 0F bag that doesn’t require a bivy, for use in sleeping directly on snow. (floorless tipi with wood stove is my use)

    My experience with USGI systems is that the synthetic insulation works well to dry me out, but the layer of frost inside the bivy isn’t a good fit for use below freezing.

    Here’s the description from the website of the insulation:

    “Insulation incorporates an ultra-thin barrier of anti-bacterial pure silver micro fibre which also increases heat retention
    Flat filled insulation prevents cold spots”

    So, what is this stuff? Climashield?
