Darley Defense Days – Omni-Wool Socks

Omni-Wool Socks are made from Merino wool which comes from a herd in Montana, making them Berry compliant. It also means they offer all of the advantages of Merino: wicking, inherent FR, anti-microbial.

Although they offer a wide range of socks, the boot models are available in light, medium and heavy.  The heavy sock was initially intended for use in cold weather environments but some users have adopted them for hot weather due to their thick nap.  The socks are engineered from top to bottom to fit the shape of the foot, ankle and calf.  For instance, they’ve integrated a non binding top and calf relief feature so the sock stays up, but doesn’t constrict.

I found Omni-wool socks at Sam’s Club a couple times, a three pack for something like 14 bucks. In my opinion they’re every bit as good as Smartwools without the sexy reputation.

Plus if I remember the packaging correctly, they are made in the USA.

They sold these at the PX in twentynine palms when I was active duty. Absolutely LOVE these, they are still going strong over a year and a half later. Stretch in all the right places, perfect softness, and the leg elastic hasn’t let me down or gotten caught on my toenails.

I had trouble finding them online but they do sell them at sam’s club in non military colors (and of course on Amazon). Definitely recommend them!
