O P Tactical – Altama Jungle PX Boots

Thursday, September 28th, 2017

The other day when we mentioned the reproduction, 1st pattern Jungle Boots, several readers were disappointed that their sizes weren’t available. As many of you agree with me that the green USGI Jungle Boot was the greatest issue footwear ever, I thought I’d share these babies, offered by O P Tactical. Granted, they have the padded collar, added in the early 80s, but this is still a great boot. One thing I really like about them is they’ve Replaced the old anti-punji stake metal plate with a LENZI non-metallic L-Protection anti-penetration board which uses pre-treated ceramic and high tenacity fibers.

Yep, that’s a genuine Panama Tread Direct Molded Sole. That’s becuase these are made on original Ro-Search machinery. Ro-Search was a business unit of Wellco Boots and Original Footwear owns both Altama and Wellco.

Thursday, September 28th, 2017

620845C8-F7C7-431C-A002-F4513E42F282

I met with Silent Warrior Foundation at this week’s TYR Tactical worldwide HQ grand opening in Phoenix. They had a very cool TomCar in their display. I asked what it was for and they told me about their annual fundraiser as well as the history of the charity. First off, it is 100% volunteer run. Additionally, it is non-parochial charity. Although it began in 2016 as an academic scholarship fund for the families of Marine Reconnaissance and Critical Skill Operators, the charity now focuses on Veterans in need as well as providing scholarships.

FC6ACF74-5B41-48F1-B994-F897393EB1E3

There are three prizes this year. The Grand Prize winner will receive a new, custom 2016 TM4 by Tomcar. The Second Prize this year is a BCM RECCE-16 KMR-A with ELW barrel rifle, hand-painted by First Sgt Timothy LaSage (USMC Retired). The Third Prize is a WK II knife by Daniel Winkler.

Tickets are $100 but there are only 1000 available. Once they are sold, they will conduct the drawing. To get your raffle ticket and support this charity, visit silentwarriorfoundation.com/product/silent-warrior-foundation-2017-raffle.
