Velocity Arms Makes Some Unique Glock Barrels

At TRIGGRCON I was introduced to Velocity Arms. After learning about their Glock barrels, I’d have to say that their website (killer innovations) is aptly named.

Using Single Process Technology where the bore, rifling and chamber are cut on one machine.

Tru-Axis machining uses a single-point rifling system in which one machine comprehensively crafts every part of the barrel from start to finish. The rifling alone is accomplished with over eighty miniscule cuts, offering a deviation of less than one ten thousandth of an inch from groove depth to groove depth because they are cut with the same tool.

During this Tru-Axis machining process, the Glock barrels are machined with an 11° target crown, then magnetic particle tested, and finally, coated with a MDC or TiN plating.

Additionally, each barrel comes with a black nitride coated thread protector which extends just past the tip of the barrel to protect the 11° target crown from damage.

So… we’re putting lightening cuts on barrels now, huh…

A better question is, at the end of the day bullets on target does this manufacturing coolness (and extra cost) lead to more accuracy or is it just racing stripes like 90% of other Glock mods and aftermarkets out there?

Most people are better served by upgrading themselves with more training and range time than by upgrading a gun that can already outperform the shooter. Most won’t see any benefit with aftermarket barrel unless the pass the gun to their Olympic champion buddy

I would like to see an engineering analysis about how much rupture strength they are sacrificing when they start carving parts off like that. Someone did an engineering analysis? Right? Tell me they didn’t just get crazy with the mill.

Shaking my head. I was afraid of that. You would be shocked at the PSI going on inside there. As I heard an Engineer say: It is a hostile environment in there once that powder ignites.

OK wait are you actually Patrick Sweeney?

After the release of the Gen 5 Glocks and their superb barrels why someone would want an aftermarket barrel is beyond me. My Gen 5 Glocks will eat the middle out of a B-8 at 25 with shit ammo, do you really need more than that (and less reliability).

    This. Is. Dumb.
