I don’t get what’s the appeal of overpriced flannel.

    • Nick says:

      Then don’t buy it.

The shirt looks well thought out, looks pretty nice, and is made in the USA by a company known for quality stitching. For the price, I’d consider it a good deal-especially if it lasts for a while.

    • paul says:

The price is right on par with Vermont Flannel Company and All American – both are made in usa – plus you’re getting oversized chest pockets with First Spear…so there’s that.

    • jellydonut says:

In this case the high price comes from the domestic origin. Clothes made in the USA, and other developed countries, inherently cost more.

If you prefer to support child labor, slave labor, and foreign communist governments with your money, then feel free to buy the inexpensive chicom clothes. Personally I am always happy to pay a bit more for quality made by people closer to my location in humane conditions.

      • SamHill says:

@ jellydonut I’ve had similar discussions with guys on bladeforums, they want these Chinese knives where they reverse engineered our tech for all these years and are building the products using slave labor with mystery steel, but it is cheaper so they can hoard more quantity. Some guys will never understand beyond their immediate gimmie, gimmie right now, as cheap as possible, desires.

I believe it is a smarter long term plan for us to buy USA made as often as we can.

It’s an awesome opportunity for the snarky among us to put their money where their mouth-hole is. (and no doubt a kickass shirt)

    • Sasquatch says:

With a comment like that, I was expecting to see something in the $150 range. In which case, I would have agreed it’s overpriced. But complaining about a sub $70 shirt from an great American company with an eye for detail? That’s just crazy.

    • Jester says:

What kind of alternate reality are you living in that you consider $70 overpriced for a flannel shirt in 2018? Especially a US-made shirt??

    • b_rawrd says:

There is a direct correlation b/t cost of flannel and your shot groupings brother

  2. SamHill says:

I like the shirt. I appreciate American manufacturing, we need to bring more back!
That is a slim looking little pack, anyone know what it is?

  3. lcpl1066 says:

Between Magpul and these guys I think it is time I start buying my mags and mag pouches from LL Bean and Patagonia.

  4. Mike L. says:

Looking good. Where can I find a list of retailers carrying FirstSpear in-store?

  5. Joe says:

Tactical flannel isn’t tactical…if you don’t get that paradox you don’t understand low vis/no vis, etc…

  6. ThatBlueFalcon says:

Price isn’t bad – $10 or so more than LLBean (my personal gold standard for a shirt) so it comes down to the “Made in America” label.

That being said, it does have some good features, and if this is what you need for work you’re probably getting it for less than MSRP, but aside from the “tacticool” factor it’s just another option in a pretty crowded field of outdoor flannel shirts.

    • Pete says:

LL Bean is pretty much my gold standard for flannels too. The Stewart pattern I have from them is a decade and change old and still looks sharp.

  7. Patrick Bateman says:

I’d like to order one but I can’t figure out the sizing. Is this for giants?

  8. Ken Rull says:

OH LAWD yet another Tactical Flannel…are we 5 secs to exit pt SHARK?

  9. Luke says:

clicked on the comments expecting the typical first spear/overpriced first comment, clicked on the link and HOLY CRAP THAT’S CHEAP. Super impressed with anyone that can make a sub $100 button up in the US.

Seriously, there is a boatload of mexico/asian manufactured flannel that costs more.
