Victory First introducing the V43 Upper Receiver at SHOT Show 2019

For Immediate Release

Fredericksburg, Virginia 01.10.2019

Victory First is excited to announce the debut of their V43 Upper Receiver at the 2019 NSSF SHOT Show, January 22 – 25, 2019 in Las Vegas.

The V43 is a custom-designed and manufactured slide for a stock Glock model 43. The concept that began in 2017 in nearing the final stages of testing and Victory First is shooting for full rate production and shipping to begin in 1st quarter of 2019.

Matt Jacques, founder and owner of Victory First, explains:

“The intent of the project was to simply lengthen the slide and barrel to increase the comfort for concealment, specifically when carrying the gun in the appendix region (AIWB). I spend a ton of time with folks discussing why short sight radius guns are so uncomfortable when carrying AIWB. I refer to it as the Lego Principle. Stepping on a Lego wouldn’t hurt if it was the size of your cell phone; short guns hurt because they pinch at your waist. So, we’ve stretched the slide and produced a match barrel to optimize the Glock Model 43.”

The V43 is a custom, direct drop on slide that is precision machined from 17-4PH Stainless steel that is fitted with OEM Glock components and, as Jacques stated, a match Victory Barrel. The slide is 6.89in. in length and the standard barrel will measure 4.33in. Threaded barrels in industry standard thread pitch will also be available at full rate production.

Jacques continues.

“This configuration keeps the frame slim, but gives it a G19-ish sized slide and barrel combo. This will alleviate discomfort felt by folks who love the slim profile of the Model 43 but found it unpleasant to carry. There is the additional benefit of lengthened sight radius and increased barrel length, both of which improve accuracy and performance.  We have prototype samples of slides for direct mounting various red dot optics, so yes, we’ll be offering those as well.”

For me, that’s a good looking slide and I like it. The down side now is the frame is really lacking something, dunno what it is but maybe it needs a nice stippling job

And didn’t even once mention the Glock 48…Well Played!

    • Kyle Kata says:

Sort of, but this isn’t a 48 either.

      1. This is longer than the 48 / 43X slide.

      2. This is still the 43 grip. So if X like from 43X in Glock world means “grip from another model”, this is a 43L.

I’m excited for the 48 because a 43 grip does little for me. I find it’s much harder to shoot under stress (my round dip, can’t get enough hand on gun) and not pleasant to practice with (no pinches).

      • EODMadBomb says:

I get what you’re saying, but I wouldn’t go so far as to call it a 43L. A G17L is more than 1.5 inches longer than a G17.

The V43 slide is just over 1/32 inch longer and the barrel is around 1/8 inch longer. If you don’t see them side-by-side, I would bet you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference in length.

I do like the idea of being able to upgrade my G43 instead of getting the 48, but I do agree on the length of the 43 grip. I went with a +1 mag extension and haven’t had any problems since.

        • Kyle Kata says:

82% vs 87% difference or so.

Problem that mag extension didn’t solve for me was having full hand on the gun during mag change / not pinching my hand in the grip if I was trying to go too fast.

          I’ll get a 48, but if I had a 43 this seems great.

You know to most people that start AIWB carry it seems counter intuitive that a longer slide would be more comfortable, but it’s true. Shorter guns seem to create more “hot spots” and people decide they don’t like that style of carry. It’s not for everyone, but some may be surprised how comfortable it is with a longer slide gun. I think this and G48 will do well. Just my .02.

    • Kyle Kata says:

Agreed. It took me awhile to figure why I liked carrying my G17 more than my Shield. Made me laugh when the clowns at firearmblog talked about how great the 43X would be because that’s just so opposite of what works.

  4. Guy Smiley says:

Can ww stop calling a slide an upper receiver? These are the same people that call an ak dust cover an upper receiver. Know your subject.

  5. SamHill says:

    we’re gonna need new holsters…

(I guess, unless your current one is open ended you might not)
