Magpul Unveils The 7.62 PMAG D-50 LR/SR GEN M3

Finally, a 7.62 version of Magpul’s highly successful from magazine. Imagine 50 rounds, fed reliably into the rifle of your choice.

The Magpul PMAG D-50 is a rugged, lightweight, and reliable 50-round polymer drum magazine designed for 7.62×51 NATO/.308 Winchester ammunition for SR25/M110 pattern rifles.

It’s capable of using longer-than-SAAMI-spec match ammunition, up to 2.830” OAL, such as M118LR. Engineered to the same exacting standards as the famous Magpul PMAG and PMAG D-60® drum magazines, the D-50 continues the PMAG tradition of high-capacity performance and dependability.

In addition, the D-50 brings GEN M3 features, which means enhanced strength, durability, and reliability. A ratcheting loading lever removes spring tension, making the D-50 easily loadable by hand. An anti-glare translucent window on the rear of the drum makes for quick positive visual indication of remaining ammunition. Additionally, the D-50 can be disassembled quickly with a simple flat blade screwdriver, and a has a dot matrix pattern that allows for easy marking and identification. At approximately 1.7 lbs empty, and 4.5 lbs loaded, the Magpul D-50 is one of the lightest 50-round 7.62×51/.308 drums available and is priced well below current competition. Designed specifically for 7.62×51 NATO/308 Winchester ammunition and use with other calibers such as 260 Remington or 6.5 Creedmoor is not recommended.

Specs:
• Weight: 1.726 lbs.
• Width: 4.64”
• Length: 4.35”
• Height: 8.34”
• Made in the USA.

The apple of the firearms world…making stuff I didn’t know I needed but now can’t live without.

    Hefty.

The governors of New York. New Jersey, Colorado and California just had a collective stroke.

Which is as they say, “too bad”.

  4. Lee Sillitoe says:

Do you make one that will fit an M-14?

    • SamHill says:

@ Lee Sillitoe the only company I know of that makes one of those is X products and they are like $300. I had one for a while and it was just too damn heavy, IMO. Best of luck!

I would like to see a modernized version of the AR-pattern magazine well such that it could take a drum magazine directly, without the mag tower the current design requires. If you are going to need the firepower of a drum, so be it–Make the standard mag well detachable, plug in your drum, and away you go.

Or, just go to the drum as the standard mag, period. Mod the rifles so you don’t need the tower part of the design at all, and call it good.

    • AbnMedOps says:

Or if you are going for a complete re-design of the lower receiver, how about a spiral or helical magazine like those interesting little plastic Calico .22LR rilfes back in the ’80s, before the magazine ban put them out of business?

Also, I wonder if something like this drum would have made the old BAR more relevant? (or maybe just heavier!!)

Mice mag, 50 Ed’s is a lot firepower. I had a x mag on a m-1 a ,hell to hold down in rapid fire. Works grate on an at. Hope this one is’nt $ 300.00 .

But the most important question, does it fit into the awesome HERA CQR foregrip?
