SIG SAUER - Never Settle

Shomer-Tec Escape & Survival Module

IMG_7588

The Escape & Survival Module was developed for a US military unit, but it also can be a lifesaving device for those who travel in harm’s way or in dangerous regions. This kit provides effective tools to enable escape from captivity and subsequent survival. It’s all contained in a special o-ring sealed module which was designed to provide maximum concealment options when capture is imminent.

Despite its small size, it includes all of the following components: 4 lock picks, handcuff key, 2 styles of lock shims, Kevlar® escape saw, diamond rod saw, ferrocerium fire rod, 3 waxed jute fire starters, and ceramic razor blade. Even the module itself is a working component – it’s milled from magnesium and can be shaved down with the back edge of the ceramic razor blade for fire starting. Also included is a small packet of petrolatum (does not fit inside the module), for uses that include first aid, fire accelerant, etc.

Government contract over-runs, so quantities are very limited. Dimensions and weight (w/o petrolatum packet): 3.2” length x 0.7” diameter, 1.1 oz.

    Looks very … discreet.

I am, however, a little worried about capacity and shoving all of those items in such a small cavity. Can we get a banana for scale?

  3. A.K. for T-7 says:

Actually the diameter is the only aspect of this gear that you should care about…

  4. mudd says:

Is there an optional ribbed for pleasure version?

Seeing stuff like this makes me glad I joined the Air Force. Say what you will, I did not have to worry about shoving E&E tools up my ass.

    • The Stig says:

My first guess as to who asked for it would be the Air Force SERE guys. They’re big into this stuff.

    “maximum concealment options”

might be a little hard to relax under those circumstances,

      … the old prison wallet

    • SamHill says:

I worked at a maximum security prison for a number of years. There was one inmate who stored contraband in a shampoo bottle that he kept up there. No real way to stop him. Just chalk that one up as a loss.

People might be amazed at some of the stuff these guys did. Realistic soap sculptures, various tools made from things like toilet paper, starting fires with batteries, “inmate fishing” where they would hook their ID card to home-made string and fling it across the rows, sometimes even from one floor to another, to pass stuff back and forth, some of it was kind of amazing, thinking back. Many even kept pet bugs or spiders. 99% of them were homosexuals, I didn’t believe it for a long time. Even the ones you thought wouldn’t get down like that, until late one quiet night on a wing check you’re walking by and…

      Damn why u mention prison?

  9. “I can hear you rummaging around in there!”

    The ol’ prison wallet…

In “Papillon” they used metal screw-cap cigar tubes, IIRC.

  24. Jack Boothe says:

Is there a MILSPEC or ISO standard for this? Do you think it will eventually get an NATO Stock Number (NSN)? Is it going to be issued individually or as part of organizational clothing and equipment and have to returned for reissue? Finally, I wonder are hard it was to find service members to field test it?

  25. the hun says:

Is there chance to produce one Special Edition with Mattis and Trumps signature?!

  26. Raul says:

Oh man, these comments are great! Need different colors (purple dragon) and perhaps a vape kit edition.

Might I suggest a small tampon style ripcord on future versions. I would also rename it the BOHICA kit.

  30. the hun says:

Perhaps its possible to “install” a modern Version of a blood chit!
    in korean?!
Or a soundmodul with a message in parsi?!
But instead of money a solar Lcd Monitor with lifelong Netflix …
