Why is this really good information?

The almost hidden gems contained within.

Direct Action vs Jungle Patrol, accidental bumps to head and eyes, why scrimmed or not, environmental factors like extreme heat/cold.

These are all factors, it’s certainly not the common “it’s what the Delta Geeks are wearing” choices.

Compromises! You hear that a lot.

Remember much of current military gear is Afghan/Iraq focused, imagine that!

I am here to tell you from experience that what works in summer there is not the same as my area of Florida.

Current helmets suspension/padding is great for protection, but limits airflow the could cause heat injuries in the jungle.

Then I hear “it’s hot in Iraq too!”

Yea, but during a halt I can reduce head temperature through evaporative cooling by a quick removal of headgear for a few minutes.

Doesn’t work in high humidity environments like jungles.

    So again nuanced compromises!

Max puts an amazing amount of info in these brief videos, make sure your understanding the nuances.

There’s more to it than looking cool.

    • Lose_Game says:

Extreme cold too. The Russians went with a suspension-type liner on the 6b27, probably for more airflow.

  2. AASKOV says:

To add some additional anecdotal data points; while 3A helmet armor is not *tested* to rifle threats, I have seen a number of ballistic shells defeat rifle rounds that would have otherwise been non-survivable.

    Another useless video.

Since this dynamic duo insist on continuing their trollfest.

So here’s some examples of Owen’s quality commentary in regards to Max’s contributions to SSD!

Talking of Walter Mittys, I wasn’t aware British Paratroopers and Commandos were SOF.

Is that the kit you wore when you were in your fantasy SOF land ?

    Very insightful commentary.

Owen in particular must have a very boring fobbit life, I certainly had better things to do with my time there.

    Sad really.

  6. Barry says:

Seen as you’re so vocal Joe enlighten me, who is this aimed at ?

    • Joe (G.W.N.S.) says:

Obviously those who have a choice in the gear they use, whether that is armed citizens or various contractors.

With the reach SSD has possibly even those in procurement of such gear.

Given your comment history it is difficult to take your statements seriously.

Comments such as yours are a great disservice to the readership at SSD, particularly those looking real world information.

Should you be ready to discuss things in a constructive and civil manner, I am ready either here or the Forum that you joined during our last exchange.

  7. Barry says:

I’m also unsure why you’re trying to discredit my serious posts before, especially when your hero openly admitted they are factual.

    • SSD says:

Either get on topic or go away.

    • Joe (G.W.N.S.) says:

Should you choose to follow our hosts advice here at SSD and make a constructive post related to the topic at hand I am more than prepared to have a dialogue.

Of course even now your above post is lacking in substance with a lazy attempt to bait a response.

  8. SamHill says:

I bet this dude that trolls him showed up to one of his classes, probably obese wearing paintball gear, eating fast food and could not pass the PT test. That or they are a business competitor. Probably not the latter because a business competitor would have better things to do.

Either way, get your life in order and move on to better things. (Owen/Barry)
