SIG P365 SAS

During the NRA Annual Meeting I was shown a couple of upcoming P365 models. The P365 XL is already out, but the one that really had me excited was the SAS model, which stands for SIG Anti Snag.

There are SAS models of other SIG pistols and they are designed as the ultimate Concealed Carry.

As you can see from these profile shots, the sights and controls don’t protrude.

The FT Bullseye sight is embedded into the slide and incorporates both fiber optics for day and tritium for low light.

Additionally, the barrel and slide are ported. SIG claims up to 30% less muzzle flip and zero front sight fouling, since there isn’t one.

Finally, the slide catch and takedown levers are flush.

Sig’s firearms innovation over the last 5 years or so has really been impressive, and shooters are buying them. HK, CZ, Walther, and Beretta have also been bringing great pistols to market, so they deserve a mention, too.

We’re lucky to have so many great choices in pistols, S/A carbines, bolt guns, tactical shotties… Life is good!

A good video showing how this style of sights work. Pretty interesting:

Like a bad penny, these sights turn back up every few years. I was dazzled by the BS and tried them out on a Glock years ago. At least with my Glock, I just went back to sights that actually worked…you’d be kinda screwed here.

      • Paul Joly says:

Yes, I tried these sights, they’ve got a lot of parallax deviation and actually didn’t increase the chance of hitting the target if you master isoscele stance.

  3. DangerMouse says:

Ok. I have to say, this is pretty dang innovative. Way to think outside the box, Sig.

    Now I want one.

    • Sommerbiwak says:

Really seems a first as I have never heard of someone letting the FT Bullseye in into a Glock slide. Although people nowadays seem to make whatever cuts into their Glock slides.

  4. Why have any sights at all? Don’t need them!!

  5. Hush says:

The old Guttersnipe sights! Somewhat like a modern day ASP, minus the see through grip cutouts.

  6. Israel Hoffman says:

Isn’t this just a ripoff of Meprolight?

  7. Wake27 says:

    …because iron sights snag?

  8. Phoenix says:

I would be more interested in seeing this integrated into a RMR

  9. Frank says:

A better more functional improvement for the p365 would be ambidextrous slide release! Every gun should have them!

  10. Anon says:

…. but…. how do ya folks do 1 hand slide racks???

  11. Amer-Rican says:

One handed slide racking can be done my putting the muzzle end of the slide against a hard surface and pushing until racked.

  12. Dresden says:

we had the original metrolight and the only issue was that when in the dark, shooting into light, you cannot see them. they require light to work.

these ones always glow. much better.
