Trijicon Ventus

The world’s first handheld device with advanced wind mapping and range detection.

Powered by WindPro™ Technology, the Trijicon Ventus™ provides shooters and hunters with previously unattainable data about their environments to improve long-range accuracy. The Ventus™ is designed with a Doppler LIDAR engine that can measure headwind, tailwind, crosswind and vertical wind components at six different distances in front of the user. In any weather condition. Coming in the second-half of 2020.

    Wow, zero comments?

This is like one of the first commercial devices that would really allow you to measure wind at more than just your position??

This is one of the few COTS devices that can fulfill that role. The other devices are an add-on censor suites for something that you might see in a safran-vectronix catalog. This is a game changer for the professional long range shooter.

Oh shoot. I always wanted Luke Skywalker’s binoculars!!!

Wind sense is some cool technology (I would say the holy grail of long range shooting), but it still has a loooooong way to go to be as effective as it needs to be for the long range marksmen. 500 yards is hardly beneficial……but good on Trijicon for putting it out there.

There are programs that have been in the works for years. 500 yards has been accomplished since about day one. Its beyond that, that has been the hurdle. Trying to sample wind at 1500 yards for the parabolic curve of the specific projectile takes 7-10 seconds and the accuracy capability is still less than desirable at well below 50%. Like I said, still a looooong way to go.
