American Service Knife is a new multi-tool brand created by Marine Veteran and renowned knife maker Greg Medford.

This model is the Jefferson. It features Orange scales, Drop Point Blade, Chisel, and Bottle Opener. However, the knives are modular and the components as well as scales can be swapped out.

Like the name says, these are American made. Their steels are powdered stainless alloys from Niagara Specialty Metal in upstate New York, the Titanium they use is mined in Ohio and their plastic injection molded scales are made in Scottsdale, Arizona from American made plastic material suppliers.

Blade Show 22 – Dynamis Alliance Neptune Dive Blade

Monday, June 6th, 2022

Dynamis Alliance honcho and former SEAL Dom Raso showed me his Neptune Blade, a dedicated dive knife during my brief visit to the Blade Show in Atlanta.

He’s been working in perfecting the design over the past several years and it’s great to see this American made knife finally out and hitting the market.

The blade which features double edge serrations is made from CPMS110V with a NEPT-X proprietary coating to resist salt water.

It also integrates a line cutting notch as well as a grip lanyard making it easy to ensure you won’t lose your knife. That same lanyard also secures your knife within the sheath.

Finally, the Neptune has multiple mounting options:

• MOLLE Vertical Mount
• Horizontal MOLLE Mount
• Horizontal Belt Mount
• Dive/Duty Belt Mount
• Includes Dynamis IWB Sheath

Expect the first run to be out by the end of 2022.

Blade Show West Is Moving To Salt Lake City!

Wednesday, March 16th, 2022

Appleton, Wisconsin (March 8, 2022) – BLADE Show West, the largest Western knife event featuring the top names in custom and factory knives, will take place Friday-Saturday, October 7-8, 2022, at its new, expanded location in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Moving the show to the Salt Palace Convention Center from previous years’ venues (Long Beach, California and Portland, Oregon) was an easy decision given all the amenities that Utah’s most populous city has to offer.

Knifemakers, manufacturers and knife enthusiasts will find that Salt Lake City is ideal for this growing event thanks to a general lack of restrictions on knife styles or sales.

“We are excited to move our show to a city and state that celebrates the outdoors and is knife friendly to our industry as a whole,” said BLADE Show Director, Alicia Newton. “We know Utah and the surrounding states are home to a significant population of knife and outdoor enthusiasts, so we can count on great attendance. Further, Salt Palace Convention Center offers many conveniences that we look for in a host city in terms of proximity to the airport, hotel accommodations, restaurants and bars.”

In addition to seeing firsthand some of the industry’s finest custom and factory creations, attendees can participate in a number of free demos and seminars.

“BLADE Show West has always been known for its educational seminars and knife competitions, and we will continue that tradition in Salt Lake,” said BLADE Magazine Editor, Steve Shackleford. “The same goes for our custom and factory knife judging events, where some of the world’s top fixed blades and folders vie for the best-of-the-best honors in the most prominent knife categories.”

BLADE Show West is one of three major, annual knife events presented by BLADE Magazine, including BLADE Show Texas (March 18-19, 2022) and BLADE Show (Atlanta, June 3-5, 2022).

UltiClip

Wednesday, June 16th, 2021

UltiClip have been used for IWB holsters for quite awhile, but at the recent Blade Show in Atalanta, UltiClip showed how their device can be used to secure knives and other items in place for the draw from an inside waistband carry.

It’s a simple, low-profile device that can be attached via bolts to many sheaths and holsters, and is adjustable for height. The bail snaps into place, clamping either pant or belt.

Winkler Knives – Utility Crusher

Tuesday, June 8th, 2021

Last week’s Blade Show was the public debut of the Utility Crusher which replaces the SAR Knife in the Winkler line. The full tang construction from 80CrV2 retains the double cross guard as well as serrations along the spine of the blade.

The biggest change is the new pommel spike window breaker which is lower profile than on the SAR Knife which is less likely to catch your arm while wearing the knife on your belt.

Standard handle options include sculptured G10 and Micarta although they exhibited Oak handles at Blade Show.

I am told there are still some SAR Knives in stock so pick one up before they’re gone.
