The Safariland Group Selected As Equipment Supplier For United States Air Force Security Forces In $17.7M Contract

The Safariland Group has announced they have received a contract from the United States Air Force to supply batons, holsters, and body armor to the Air Force Security Forces. The full release can be read below:

Air Force Security Forces to use Safariland Group batons, holsters and body armor

JACKSONVILLE, Florida – The Safariland Group (the “Company”), a leading global provider of safety and survivability products, announced today that its distributor, Garrett Container, was awarded a $17.7M contract from the United States Air Force for law enforcement equipment. As the majority equipment supplier for this contract, The Safariland Group products, including Monadnock® batons, Safariland® tactical holsters and accessory kits, and Second Chance® body armor, will be supplied to the Air Force Security Forces over the five-year contract period.

“We have been working diligently with our customer Garrett Container for several years to meet the U.S. Air Force Security Forces equipment requirements. Our high-quality products, experienced work force, and capabilities to meet large order requirements enabled us to be selected for this award by Garrett Container,” said Roger Cox, Vice President, Government Sales, The Safariland Group. “We are pleased to be the majority supplier of this contract for Garrett Container, a trusted industry distributor.”

The contract specifies a maximum quantity of 30,866 Monadnock® Detective® Series batons; 34,764 Safariland® Model 6005 SLS Tactical Holsters and holster accessories, and approximately 37,100 sets of Second Chance® BV02 Level IIIA body armor packages for both male and female.

All products included in this contract will be manufactured at the Company’s facilities located in Pittsfield, Mass.; Ontario, Calif.; and Jacksonville, Fla.

USAF Security Forces Mandate New Black Gould & Goodrich Molded Nylon Duty Gear For Use With Blues

The US Air Force Force Protection Commodity Council has awarded a new indefinite quantity – indefinite delivery contract for Law Enforcement Black Gould & Goodrich Molded Nylon Duty Gear to ADS, Inc. Black Gould & Goodrich Molded Nylon Duty Gear is intended for use by DAF Civilian Police/Guards and Security Forces military members in blues only. The contract specifies the following 10 Black nylon items:

– Utility Belt (S, M, L, XL)
– Belt keepers
– Handcuff case
– Radio Case
– Single magazine M9 ammo pouch
– Triple magazine M4 ammo pouch
– Chemical spray holder
– Baton Holder
– Silent key ring holder
– Glove pouch

The contract is effective through January 14, 2019. Items are currently available for order. Look for info from Security Forces Center soon.

ASHLAND, OR, FEBRUARY X, 2014 – Massif® Fire and Ice Layering System including Air Force Elements Jacket and Pant made with Battleshield X fabric has been authorized Safe-to-Fly.

Massif Battleshield X fabric is a flame-resistant, water-resistant laminate, and features GORE® FR stretch technology. It was developed specifically for the military and tactical markets, with a US patent-pending nylon face fabric. Air Force FIRESAFE Program

The Air Force Clothing Office is hard at work developing new clothing for Airmen serving in ground combat.

The overarching program is called FIRESAFE and charged with development of the Airman Combat System – Ground, Fire Resistant Airman Battle Uniform and the thus far, ill-fated Airman Battle Shirt.

The Fire Resistant Airman Battle Uniform should be on track as the Air Force is leveraging an Army contract for the FR ACU and has only to decide how the coat’s pockets will be laid out. Amazingly, this remains a point of contention for all of the FR clothing items even though they have no garrison application. There is still a faction that wants the enlisted to wear their stripes on their sleeves even in the field.

The Airman Combat System – Ground will consist of under garments, a battle uniform, cold weather clothing, ballistic protection, load carrying system, and ancillary items (these were unspecified).

Air Force clothing programs

The mythical Airman Battle Shirt based on the Army’s successful (Army of One chest logo aside) Army Combat Shirt has yet to even see prototype stage. The original plan was to leverage the Army ACS contract and just change the color to the Air Force pattern in order to get the garment to the troops as quickly as possible. However, sources tell me that the entire program has been held up by one action officer in theater who feels that forearm pockets would be superior to the current bicep pockets found on the ACS.
