BioLite Launches HeadLamp on Kickstarter

Tuesday, September 18th, 2018

Launching today on Kickstarter is the HeadLamp from BioLite, who claims, “It’s a wearable that’s actually wearable.”

It’s a really neat design. The 3D SlimFit Construction incorporates a 3D-molded housing integrating the electronics directly into the fabric for a SUPER thin front that sits flush on your forehead. This, combined with the power source mounted to the rear, results in a balanced, no bounce design.

The rechargeable design offers 330 lumens in the following modes: dimmable white spot, dimmable white flood, red flood, and strobe. Plus the panel articulates easily with one hand so you can direct your light where you need it.

Offered in limited quantities on Kickstarter. What’s more, early adopters will get a free Light Diffusing Stuffsack with their pledge, turning their HeadLamp into a hangable lantern. These will be delivered by the end of the year. Otherwise, you’ll have to wait until Spring, 2019 for them to be restocked.

BioLite FirePit – Now On Kickstarter

Friday, September 22nd, 2017

BioLite has a very successful history of using Kickstarter to launch products. Their latest effort is the FirePit. It’s a smokeless wood-burning device that cooks your meals and gives you a front-row seat to everything going on inside your fire.

There are 51 airjets which inject the fire with oxygen along key locations thanks to the fan located inside the USB-rechargeable orange power pack. This promotes uniform temperature and gas mixing to burn the wood as effeciently as possible in order to reduce smoke.

#1: Get an efficient burn with way less smoke than a conventional fire pit

#2: Enjoy the feeling of a 360-degree floating fire with the FirePit’s X-Ray Mesh

#3: Burn charcoal or wood embers for a hibachi-style grilling experience

Bonus: Kickstarter backers receive a free Solar Carry Cover ($60 value).

BioLite SolarHome 620

Monday, August 7th, 2017

At the recent Outdoor Retailer Summer Market, BioLite gave everyone a sneak peek of their new SolarHome 620 system. It consists of control box, 6w solar panel, motion sensor security light and two ceiling mounted lights. Designed to produce household power for off-the-grid dwelllings in India and West Africa, it will work just as well for those who have hunting cabins, DIY van campers and have to set up regularly in austere areas.

The heart if this system is this control box which not only gives real-time feedback on power, but also serves as an light, MP3 player and terrestrial radio.

They’ve already deployed thousands of these systems in emerging markets, and they plan to launch it here in the Spring. However, a limited run of 500 will be offered in November. Based on the existing deployments of the SolarHome 620, the World Bank has issued this spec sheet which gives some realistic performance data.

New Products from BioLite

Monday, August 24th, 2015

Biolite has long been out front in backcountry power generation with their stoves that create power whioe they heat food. At the recent OR Summer Market in Salt Lake City, they unveiled three new products.

The CookStove is great for someone who wants to get into outdoor cooking with wood (sticks, twigs, pinecones and pellets) without groundfires. Like the original CampStove it uses a fan assist to boil a liter of water in 4.5 minutes.

BioLite also introduced Solar Panels to their line up, the SolarPanel 5 and 5+. The 5 denotes five watts and they differ only in that the 5+ incorporates an onboard battery (2200mAh) which offers a full phone charge. The SolarPanels also include sundials to help maximize collection and a cool 360 degree kickstand to aid in mounting in uneven terrain and on vegetation.

The new Power Light Mini is a flat 135 lumen LED light with an onboard battery wthat can be powered by the other BioLite gear or other power sources via USB. Not only can it be charged but it also works as a battery and can power other items. Modes include Edgelit Lantern, Red Night Mode and Strobe functions. The Clipstand can attach to clothing, equipment or used as a stand.

OR Open Air Demo – BioLite Launches KettleCharge

Tuesday, August 5th, 2014

Launched yesterday, the new KettleCharge offers 10w power (their most powerful yet) on demand and is a kettle based design that can be heated on any stove surface such as home ranges (think gas) portable stoves

The collapsible handle includes a power meter and also holds a charge for use later. It not only creates power but also clean water which is not only important in the backcountry but also during disaster recovery.

Outdoor Retailer – BioLite

Friday, August 2nd, 2013

Next month, BioLite will officially launch the KettlePot but you’re getting a sneak peek thanks to Outdoor Retailer. Unlike other pots on the market, the BioLite KettlePot is made from Stainless Steel but they’ve developed a process to stretch it to be super thin so it will heat more quickly. Additionally, it can be used as a kettle or pot.

It includes a BPA-free top and cool-touch silicone handles. What I really like about it, the KettlePot cradles the BioLite stove for storage and transport.
