Name That Pack Contest

Monday, August 30th, 2010

After suffering for several months with awkward part number based names for their new line of military and discrete packs, Blue Force Gear has decided to run a contest on Soldier Systems Daily to help them name 4 different packs. The contest will run from now until the 10th of September. If your pack name is selected you will receive a free pack of that style! In the event multiple entries are received with the same suggested name, only the first submission received by Blue Force Gear will be awarded a free pack so get them in as quickly as possible! Send your ideas to namethatpack@blueforcegear.com.

Here’s what you’ve got to work with:

Medium Pack – Military (02)

The 02 Pack is a super light-weight three day style pack that is covered in MOLLE compatible webbing. It has a removable beavertail on the front for carrying quick access items like a helmet, jacket, or even one of our original Micro Packs. The inside surface of the beavertail is lined with Loop Velcro to attach any of the Dapper accessory pouches. The inside of the pack is also lined with loop so that the pack can be configured in an infinite number of storage options. The bottom of the pack is made of High Abrasion Neoprene for long term durability. There is a sheet of HDPE sewn into the back panel so that you’re not forced to buy a frame sheet for improved load carriage capability. The pack weighs 43oz and the main compartment is ~2000 cubic inches. Made in the USA!

Medium Pack – Discrete (03)
The 03 Pack is built on the same production line as our military version, but with a more discrete, stylized appearance for everyday use. It has some of the same features like the removable beavertail on the front. The inside surface of the beavertail is lined with Loop Velcro to attach any of the Dapper accessory pouches. The inside of the pack is also lined with loop so that the pack can be configured in an infinite number of storage options. There are also two accessory pouches on either side of the pack designed to fit a 1L Nalgene style bottom. The bottom of the pack is made of High Abrasion Neoprene for long term durability. There is a sheet of HDPE sewn into the back panel so that you’re not forced to buy a frame sheet for improved load carriage capability. The pack weighs 49oz and the main compartment is ~2000 cubic inches. Made in the USA!

Small Pack – Military (04)
The Small Military is based loosely off the original Micro Pack. There is a little more depth in the main compartment and on the military version the face of the pack is covered with MOLLE compatible webbing. The shoulder straps are lightly padded and the interior of the pack is lined with Loop Velcro so that it is compatible with the full line of Blue Force Gear accessory Dappers. There is a sheet of HDPE sewn into the back panel so that you’re not forced to buy a frame sheet for improved load carriage capability. The pack weighs 28oz and the main compartment is ~1000 cubic inches. Made in the USA!

Small Pack – Discrete (05)
The Small Discrete is very similar to the original Micro Pack. There is a little more depth in the main compartment and the face of the pack is stylized to appear more like a high end commercial pack.

Redi-Mod Inspection

Friday, March 26th, 2010

If you use the Redi-Mod from Blue Force Gear on your carbine like I do then you might want to pay close attention to the information they passed to me today.

Customer Service and Product Performance are top priorities at Blue Force Gear. It has come to our attention that Redi-Mods we provided between November 5, 2009 and March 22, 2010 may have magazine catches which are insufficiently staked. While this condition has no effect on the host weapon reliability or safety, the magazine catch on the Redi-Mod itself could work its way loose over time causing the spare magazine to drop free unexpectedly. If you purchased a Redi-Mod between the dates above, we would like to inspect and re-stake your Redi-Mod (on an as need basis) to ensure that it continues to function properly. We will perform this inspection and re-staking at no charge and will pay ground shipping both ways. Customers who received Blue Force Gear Redi-Mods in the affected date range should email returns@blueforcegear.com or call 877-430-2583 to receive exact return instructions.

The Redi-Mod is an excellent modification to the highly popular Redi-Mag designed to keep a spare mag right where you may need it. On the weapon and next to the mag well. It’s stuff like this that makes me proud to be associated with Blue Force Gear who stand behind their product.

BFG Introduces the Ten Speed Basicload Chest Rig

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

BFG 10 Speed Basicload Chest RigThe Blue Force Gear Ten Speed Basicload Chest Rig is designed with speed in mind. At a scant 9 ounces it weighs less than most MOLLE Double Magazine pouches and yet it still holds a full compliment of six M4 magazines. Like the 10 Speed Ammo Pouch, the low profile design keep your magazines secure yet stays out of teh way when empty. Due to the elastic design of the pockets, the Ten Speed magazine slots will also accommodate bangers, trauma dressings, tourniquets, smoke grenades, or even a couple of pistol mags in a pinch. While it is sized to fit over armor, it can also be worn as a stand alone chest rig or used as a bandoleer out of a vehicle or rucksack to give the user the ability to quickly add additional ammo or other kit. The rig is made entirely of US materials in Georgia (take that Berry).

Blue Force Gear will be showing the Ten Speed Basicload Chest Rig along with the rest of their 2010 line up in booth #25111 at SHOT Show. Be sure to stop by and tell them Soldier Systems sent you.

DAPPACK.COM

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

Blue Force Gear has launched a new website specifically for the Denied Area Pattern line. www.dappack.com includes information on the DAP Pack as well as 12 of the Dappers designed to serve as accessories. Ultimately the sky is the limit with the number of Dappers, but the initial push includes everything from a PALS-compatible panel to a laptop sleeve as well as velcro backed versions of their successful 10 Speed pouches. You can’t order them yet, but head on over anyway and drool.

DAP Pack from BFG

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

The Pack is the second platform in the Denied Area Pattern line from Blue Force Gear. Intended to mask the true purpose of the equipment, the DAP Pack is a very simple affair but very well designed. There are loops on the top and sides of the pack for routing commo wires and hydration tubes and can also be secured to restrict the opening of the main compartment. Additionally, the shoulder straps are a low profile affair.

BFG DAP Pack

The DAP Pack is a panel loaders that opens fully to expose a velcro field inside the pack’s body. The DAP line is actually a full system consisting of platforms such as the Pack and Discreet Case as well as a forthcoming family of pouches and accessories that attach to the velcro field.

BFG DAP Pack Open

The pack also features a bungie X-harness to help compact the load or to quickly stow items like jackets. Like all of the DAP line, the Pack is available in UCP, Black, Ranger Green, Coyote, Khaki, and Multicam as well as the non-traditional colors Burgundy, Royal Blue, and Emerald Green.

The DAP Pack is made in the USA and available from Blue Force Gear.

Blue Force Gear Introduces DAP Discreet Case

Saturday, May 16th, 2009

Designed to fit SBRs (10.5″) carbines fully assembled or longer disassembled weapons, Blue Force Gear’s new Discreet Case has a removable padded divider to protect the broken down components as well as a small slot pocket for storing paperwork or small parts in addition to featuring a velcro patch for ID patches.

Blue Force Gear DAP Discreet Case

The whole point of the case is obviously discretion and their choice of colors reflects this. The usual, high demand color schemes of UCP, Black, Ranger Green, Coyote, Khaki, and Multicam are available as well as Burgundy, Royal Blue, and Emerald Green.

To complement the new case BFG is releasing an initial run of 15 different pouches and accessories for compartmentalizing inside the Discreet Case as well as the new DAP Pack (more on this soon). These pouches will also be a boon to those who use other products with velcro accessory panels.

The DAP Discreet Case made in the USA and available from Blue Force Gear or G & R Tactical.

Lightweight Duty Belt from BFG

Monday, March 16th, 2009

The new Lightweight Duty Belt from BFG is designed specifically to complement their SOC-C Modular Belt. The core of the belt is a single piece of 2″ tubular Cordura webbing sewn between two layers of loop fastener. This gives the belt stiffness and the pile adheres directly to the hook fastener sewn inside the SOC-C Outer Belt. The belt’s closure is an ITW 2″ dual adjust side release buckle.

Lightweight Duty Belt from BFG

Available now in Coyote, UCP, and Multicam from Blue Force Gear. One size fits most.

Blue Force Gear Update

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

Blue Force Gear has got a lot going on. Recently Stephen Hilliard came on board and brought with him his design expertise in nylon gear. Already available are two unique products; the Tourniquet NOW! Strap and the Ten-Speed Mag Pouch.

Blue Force Gear Tourniquet NOW! Strap
Designer Stephen Hilliard designed the Tourniquet NOW! Strap in order to replace the expedient rubber band system used to attach tourniquets to load carrying equipment. The strap is simple and folds the tourniquet at the ready. The Tourniquet NOW! Strap is available in Coyote Brown, Foliage Green, and Camo Green.

Blue Force Gear Ten-Speed Mag Pouch
BFG developed the Ten-Speed Mag Pouch after owner Ashley Burnsed saw a bicyclist with his water bottle in an elastic carrier. Weighing in at three ounces, and most of that is BFG’s new PALS-compatible attachment system, the pouch’s open topped body is manufactured from elastic and designed to provide positive retention of magazines or other items such as flash bangs. It is truly a specialist item that closes flat when not in use. Current variants are available with a dark olive green body edged in Multicam.

In addition to those tactical nylon accessories, the gang at Blue Force Gear has several other products lined up for release over the next couple of months.

Finally, Blue Force Gear is expanding their relationship with Larry Vickers beyond just slings and introducing a line of 1911 parts called Vickers 1911 gear. Although not yet available for sale on the site, a Hammer, Sear, and Disconnector kit should be up by the end of the week in both standard and slotted styles.

Blue Force Gear – UCP and Multicam Slings

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

Blue Force Gear is the first company to offer their line of slings (except the Victory) in both Multicam and Universal Pattern. As with the rest of their product line, the webbing is low-IR with a flat, abrasion resistant finish. The Multicam pattern webbing has been approved by and is licensed from Crye Precision. The VCAS and Padded VCAS will be the first slings available in the new patterns. Deliveries should begin no later than mid-September.

If you want to know why this is so important, take a look at the picture below. Typically, slings are Black. The color matched UCP sling blends in perfectly with the ACU, drastically aiding the camouflage effect.

In addition to the new Universal Camouflage Pattern and Multicam, the slings are still available in Black, Coyote, Olive, and Foliage Green.

The Blue Force Gear Universal Wire Loop

Friday, May 30th, 2008

Blue Force Gear, manufacturer of the popular Vickers series of slings has recently released a new product. Machined from a 6061 aluminum billet, the sling loop is bead blasted and arrives with a non-reflective black finish. The nylon coating renders the cable virtually silent and provides a degree of flexibility unavailable with hooks commonly used to attach slings. The loop adapts to all varieties of weapons and accommodates nonconventional carry options. Two different lengths are now available.
