Blue Force Gear Adds Urban Wolf Grey to Color Options

The world is increasingly urbanizing and that environment is often a grey hue. Last year, Arc’teryx launched a new color called Urban Wolf which was designed to blend into urban sprawl. It also turns out that this grey tone has become quite popular with not only LE but also guys who don’t want to wear military-style camouflage yet still want to blend in.

While Arc’teryx has done a great job of introducing the color into their line, there are a lot of products that they just don’t make. Fortunately for us, Blue Force Gear does make things like load bearing systems and armor carriers. And now, they offer them in Urban Wolf.

“Urban Wolf is basically the color of wet concrete, near the color values of asphalt, steel, and reflective glass,” said John Felushko, Blue Force Gear’s Product Line Manager. “It was designed by Arc’teryx specifically as a better alternative to black and blue in the SWAT role but because of its ability to blend with diverse terrains, we like it as a general purpose colorway for many missions, terrains, and tactics.”

New Blue Force Gear products in Urban Wolf are on display May 14 – 15 in the Franklin Boardroom of the Embassy Suites across the Tampa Convention Center Franklin walkway.

Look for Urban Wolf as a color option for most Blue Force Gear products starting today.

Warrior West – Blue Force Gear

I was able to check out the new PLATEminus™ from Blue Force Gear which debuted yesterday here at Warrior West. Everyone I spoke to at the show was very excited about the carrier but asked about a more substantial cummerbund.

I spoke with BFG and they told me that something has been simmering on the back burner for awhile but based on this initial feedback they may introduce it soon.

Blue Force Gear Unveils PLATEminus at Warrior West

Weighing in at just 335 grams, the new PLATEminus™ is the latest component in Blue Force Gear’s growing MOLLEminus line. It’s designed to fit any SAPI/ESAPI style armor plates, with or without plate backers, and is manufactured from BFG’s proprietary ULTRAcomp laminate which incorporates a combination of slots and squares to accommodate as Helium Whisper as well as other PALS-compatible pouches.

Other than the low weight, the key design feature for PLATEminus is that it incorporates a color matched separate plate pocket that’s made from a combination of Tweave and Cordura that accommodates, protects, and camouflages plates and backers. The MOLLEminus construction strategy is already very lightweight but BFG went a step further in their weight reduction strategy by relying on simple 1″ side load stabilization straps. Another interesting feature is that the LMAC shoulder straps can be adapted to the PLATEminus™.

“We designed PLATEminus with simplicity in mind,” said John Felushko, Blue Force Gear’s Product Line Manager. “PLATEminus is simple to put on with single pull forward side straps, simple to customize due to full MOLLE compatibility and simple to size – just buy your SAPI/ESAPI plate size.”

The PLATEminus™ is currently available in MultiCam at OP Tactical and will soon also be offered in Coyote Brown and Urban Wolf.

Introducing the Blue Force Gear M320 Grenade Launcher Holster

The Blue Force Gear Grenade Launcher Holster has already seen over a year of use by combat forces carrying the H&K M320 the current US Army issue 40mm grenade launcher. While the M320 can be attached to an M4 carbine or used in a stand alone mode, the holster was designed for the latter mode of operation. When used as a stand alone, the M320 resembles a rather large caliber pistol with a telescoping buttstock.

As the M320 can make an M4 carbine rather unwieldy, most troops carry it in the standalone mode and have been storing it in a wide variety of field expedient manners including Blue Force Gear medium vertical pouches, SAW mag pouches, in backpacks or dangling via single point sling.

While there are a couple of other holster solutions on the market, BFG took a completely unique approach. It stores and ships flat and when not mounted to your gear and can be disassembled and stored flat in a pack.

The holster is an open top design with an adjustable cross strap allowing for use with any sighting system. A bungee loop can be placed around the grip for additional retention.

The holster mounts to a 3 x 4 MOLLE field and can be mounted on the right side with the grip to the rear or left side with the grip forward.

Get Your Hive Satchel Before They Are Gone

The first run of Chris Costa signature Hive Satchels are finally available from Blue Force Gear.

The Hive is manufactured from Cordura and Tweave with a dual zippered opening to the Velcro-lined main compartment which accepts Dappers as well as other Velcro backed holsters.

These will be produced in batches and this first run features a Grey colorway and is limited to 300. In fact, they are numbered. Get yours before they are all gone.

New Limited Edition Sling from BFG – The Sand Sling

The Limited Edition Sand Sling was created for one of Blue Force Gear’s favorite firearms instructors.

The body of this limited edition sling is Desert Sand – a very light tan that is similar to Desert MARPAT, AOR1, or 3 color desert pattern and matched with an A-TACS AU pull tab. Below, you can see it next to a Coyote Brown sling.

The Sand Sling is not padded and incorporates Tan Acetal hardware and 1″ Push Button QD Sling Swivels. The front Swivel is sewn into the front of the sling and another is threaded onto the rear of the sling to easily install on weapons with Push Button swivel sockets without losing overall adjustability.
