MG Trombitas Takes Command as Chairman, Green Beret Foundation

Tuesday, April 11th, 2017

SAN ANTONIO, April 6, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The GBF Board of Directors has elected retired Green Beret and Special Operations Commander, Maj. Gen. Simeon Trombitas as Chairman.

I am honored to have this opportunity to serve our Green Berets through the GBF.”

Jennifer Paquette, GBF Executive Director, commented that the Foundation will greatly benefit from the General’s leadership “at this critical time for Special Operations and Special Forces. The intellect, leadership, and commitment that characterized his distinguished career as an active duty officer will now directly impact our Foundation. With General Trombitas, we will meet the current challenges our community faces.”

Major General Simeon G. Trombitas graduated from the United States Military Academy (West Point) in 1978. Green Beret Foundation… Raising awareness At SHOT Show

    Sunday, January 18th, 2015

The United States is emerging from the longest war in its history. It is a war that involved two major fronts in Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as other incursions in hot spots around the globe. This war involved millions of veterans, however much of it was fought by a small group of special operators. Even as most U.S. military are coming home, Green Berets are still serving in the dusty villages of Iraq and Afghanistan.  This won’t change.  It’s the life they lead and one that they are very proud of as vanguards of freedom in dark places around the world.

The Green Beret Foundation provides immediate financial assistance to Green Berets who are injured in the line of duty, to their families, and to the families of their fallen brothers. They also distribute funds to support the extended care an injured Green Beret required in the event the VA is unable or unwilling. The Foundation is focused on the immediate special needs of our wounded and is dedicated to the long term health of the Green Beret Family.

The Green Beret Foundation is sending a small contingent to “Continue the Fight” and looking not just to raise awareness but to find support from fellow Americans. If you see them stop them, talk to them and work with them. Be sure to visit their website www.greenberetfoundatin.org and their Youtube Channel. Here is a short video of one of those attending Shot Show.

One Of The Many Reasons You Should Support The Green Beret Foundation

    Saturday, January 11th, 2014

This video is part of the Green Beret Foundation’s “Everyday Heroes in the Special Forces Community” video series about Green Berets and their family members. The videos share the story of these heroes’ military service and their work in their communities as they come home from war.

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting SFC( Ret) Michael R Rodriguez who spent 21 years in the US Army, 15 of which were with Special Forces. He has had numerous combat deployments throughout his career, including Somalia, Afghanistan, and Haiti, as well as Central and South America. He served as an 18D, Special Forces Medic, as well as a Sniper Instructor at the Special Forces Sniper Course. Since retiring, Michael has focused his time on his three sons and his work as a blacksmith. Two of his knives have been auctioned off to raise money for the Green Beret Foundation, and he hopes to do more in the future to contribute to the foundation. Michael has also set a goal to climb the “Seven Summits” and has already climbed Mount Kilimanjaro where he conducted the first ever research on the effects of altitude and elevation on traumatic brain injury, and as a result was inducted into the famed Explorers Club as a Fellow.

I exchanged a few messages with Rodriguez prior to SHOT Show and he told me he will at the show representing the Green beret Foundation. He told me that they’ve done a lot for him and he wants to do everything to help give back.
