DSC07415

About mid last year, we wrote about Hill & Mac Gunworks’ planned modern interpretation of the StG 44, the HMG Sturmgewehr. For those eager to know about the progress of the HMG Sturmgewehr, we’re happy to reveal that at this year’s SHOT Show, H&M had several completed models available at their booth. Seen above is the STG-N model, which features a long stroke piston action, a 16.1″ barrel length, and fixed front and rear adjustable sights. Like the original, the HMG Sturmgewehr is made of stamped metal and wood furniture; it’s expectedly hefty (11 lbs., 10 oz. unloaded), but feels extremely solid. Plus, as originally promised by H&M, multiple calibers will be offered for the rifle:

  • 5.56x45mm/.223
  • 7.62x39mm
  • .300 BLK
  • And the original 7.92x33mm/8mm Kurz
  • H&M will also be offering the HMG Sturmgewehr in a pistol and SBR configuration. Look forward to the release of the HMG Sturmgewehr later this year.

    HmGStG-490x490

The MP 43/MP 44/StG 44 or Sturmgewehr 44 is the first mass-produced and fielded assault rifle in history, having been developed and utilized by the German forces during WWII. Hill & Mac Gunworks will soon be offering a US-made modern interpretation of this iconic rifle chambered for multiple common rifle cartridges, as well as the original 7.92×33 Kurz. The HMG Sturmgewehr will use standard AR-15 magazines, and is designed to accept all standard semi-auto HK-style trigger packs. The barrel will be swappable for separate lengths and calibers, and the rifle will feature a top-mounted Picatinny rail for the attachment of optical accessories. The HMG Sturmgewehr is planned to be released in Fall/Winter of this year.
