Kopis Mobile and Beeper Communications Announce Partnership

Monday, March 19th, 2018

JACKSON, Miss. – Mar 16, 2018 – The Mississippi Development Authority (MDA,) which is the state of Mississippi’s lead economic and community development agency, and Governor Phil Bryant, this week hosted the 2018 Homeland Defense and Security Summit with a goal of fostering cross-border and bilateral cooperation between the United States and Israeli companies, and the sharing of advanced technology platforms. As a result of the Summit, Kopis Mobile, a Flowood, Mississippi company, and Beeper Communications Israel have formed a technology partnership to advance and improve safety and awareness for first responders and military personnel.

This new partnership exemplifies the goal of the Summit and will result in an immediate economic impact for Israel and the State of Mississippi.

For law enforcement officials and first responder leadership, understanding a rapidly-evolving situation is critical for a timely and effective response. Live video has become the preferred method for building this awareness, but is hindered by two major challenges: lack of cameras in the ideal locations, and overwhelmed communications links. The Beeper-Kopis partnership directly eliminates these problems through a network of tactically-deployed cameras that actively seek the best available communications route. Beeper and Kopis now offer this integrated system to interested government agencies.

Beeper Communications is a leading provider of advanced SD WAN communications platforms, early warning and alert technologies and other wireless solutions. Beeper attended the Summit as part of an Israeli delegation with the International Defense Cooperation Directorate of the Israel Ministry of Defense – SIBAT, (IMOD). Israel is known around the world for its pioneering, operationally-proven defense systems. SIBAT facilitates international cooperation through its various services facilitating B2B and B2G relationships. SIBAT works closely with the Mississippi Development Authority and the Governor’s office to facilitate and promote business between the State of Israel and Mississippi.

“The Beeper solution is unique and we were very pleased to find such a complementary technology to enhance our platforms for public safety communications. The integration of our two platforms will provide an even more comprehensive and cost-effective solution for our law enforcement customers to enhance their situational awareness.”

Dr Henry Jones

Co-founder, Kopis Mobile

The Beeper IE 5000 SD WAN Cellular Bonder, is a Comprehensive Communications Device (CCD,) delivering high capacity wireless broadband connectivity. It provides a “network in a box” that actively and dynamically analyzes and profiles existing cellular (3G, 4G, LTE, etc.) networks for capacity and availability. It identifies the four most available channels (regardless of frequency), aggregates that capacity, then bonds the four channels into one high-capacity Virtual Private Network (VPN) which is securely managed by the end user.

Kopis Mobile provides electronic products and mobile applications for LAN (Local Area Network) communications for public safety and military users.  Kopis is the fastest growing technology company in Mississippi, and number 384 on the INC 5000 Fastest Growing Private Companies list. Kopis Mobile designs and deploys Networked Tactical Television (NTtv) for the personnel on scene or responding to an incident. NTtv is a first-person video sharing system which connects to any type of camera and allows any team member to view multiple video streams by simply swiping the screen of any smart device that is wirelessly connected to the system (e.g. iOS, Android). NTtv can be body worn, put in vehicles, buildings, and ships, connected to certain unmanned aerial systems, put on dogs, robots or connected to stand alone devices like day/night thermal cameras.

The integration with Beeper’s SD WAN (Software Defined Wide Area Network) multi-channel bonder, will now allow command and control concerns to also access video, voice and data communications from anywhere without limitation. Kopis will provide the local “inter-connection” among users, while Beeper will now provide the “intra-communications” and backhaul for the combined system, which will greatly enhance access, common operational picture and situational awareness for state agencies and leadership.

The Beeper system is fully backward compatible, frequency/device agnostic and ideal for the transmission of low-latency (less than one-half of a second), analog and digital, real-time data and video from the field to the command center, anywhere in the world. The system provides untethered mobility in the most challenging environments. Additionally, by integrating the SD WAN Cellular Bonder with the Kopis system creates a highly scalable solution, as multiple feeds for any, data and video can be daisy chained through the Bonder, leveraging other existing PD/SWAT/MIL assets.

Each company already deploys their technologies globally. Most recently, Beeper has completed projects with Police Departments in Baltimore, Maryland and Houston, Texas. Kopis Mobile customers include each branch of the U.S. military and multiple civilian first responder agencies.

“The Beeper solution is unique and we were very pleased to find such a complementary technology to enhance our platforms for public safety communications. The integration of our two platforms will provide an even more comprehensive and cost-effective solution for our law enforcement customers to enhance their situational awareness,” stated Dr. Henry Jones, co-founder of Kopis Mobile. “We can see the direct impact that the cooperation between our companies will have to create new high-tech jobs at Kopis and for the State of Mississippi as we expand the initial pilot and develop our complete solution.”

“I am extremely pleased with the welcoming atmosphere and open exchange of ideas that the Governor, the Mississippi Development Authority and SIBAT provided throughout the Summit. I am even more pleased to have entered into our agreement with Kopis, as they are exactly the kind of partner we look for as we further commercialize our solution and deploy for U.S. LEA and Military. We will be starting our collaboration immediately and look forward to providing enhanced capabilities for the State of Mississippi,” stated Moshe Levinson, SVP Business Development and Special Situations for Beeper Communications.

The companies expect to begin their first technical integration and deployments in April 2018.

ADS Inc Presents – Kopis Mobile On Military Apps

Monday, December 5th, 2016

In preparing for a recent blog post entitled, “Assessing the Need for Operational Apps in the Warfighter Community” ADS spoke with local defense technology company Kopis Mobile to discuss both commercially available mobile apps as well as custom military themed apps. Designed to save time and increase productivity, a quality app is also intuitive and easy-to-use.

Kopis Mobile not only specializes in designing and manufacturing custom apps, but they also offer app-enabled equipment, often integrating existing commercial technologies. Their success is based in their keen understanding of military requirements, from a programmatic as well as end-user standpoint, combined with the agility only a small, focused business, can offer. I’ve known the guys from Kopis going back over a dozen years, to my time at SOCPAC and later, after retirement with Blackwater and Mav6. They’ve introduced some very cool capabilities.

Read the whole thing at adsinc.com/operational-apps amd learn what apps can do for your mission.

KOPIS MOBILE INVENTS A TIME MACHINE

Well, it is not exactly like the one in Back To The Future. It won’t really transport you through time, but it will give you tons of time you never had. The warfighter has plenty of bullets, beans and boots, but what they don’t have enough of is time to deal with the ever-increasing mountain of administrative tasks on their plates.

Most senior officers think that because of digitization, their troops are getting more productive because of less paperwork. Actually the opposite is happening. Despite all of the digitization, they now have more paperwork than ever. Research conducted by the American Action Forum revealed a 47.8% increase in just the last 20 years alone.

Kopis is helping give time back to the warfighter with their family of FastForm Apps. Produced about a year ago, FastForm 1306 is a mobile system that significantly cuts down the time it takes to create jump manifests. It digitally manifests a jumper quickly and generates a 100% accurate jump manifest form for the jumpmaster. http://4ksolutions.com/4k-supports-paratroopers-at-fort-bragg/

The just released FastForm Readiness app is a time and money saver as well. It tracks individual warfighter’s medical, dental and OER/NCOER. The app provides senior leaders with instant notifications if a qualification is about to lapse or already has and creates the form DA Form 1379. Among its many features, it generates an email that can be sent to the warfighter notifying them what the deficiency is, how to fix it and what will happen if it is not taken care of. It can also create and send emails to chow halls and billeting offices to cancel reservations so charges aren’t incurred for not showing up, saving an organization thousand of dollars annually.

These two products, and all of Kopis’s other products for that matter, were created via their proprietary diagnostic system. Their engineers and SMEs spend a few days interviewing multiple levels of leadership in a military organization in order to discover what their pain points are. They then produce software and/or hardware that will help reduce inefficiencies and generate cost savings. With this approach, Kopis puts the warfighter at the center of their product development and gives them direct input into the products they ultimately end up with.

SOFIC 2015 – VBSS Robot from Helical Robotics / MATBOCK / Kopis Mobile

Tuesday, May 19th, 2015

Just when you think you can pin MATBOCK down they do something like this.  As former SEALs, the maritime environment is their domain and the necessity of a way to scale the sides of ships was the inspiration for this new VBSS robot.
MATBOCK teamed with Helical Robotics who holds four patents on robots that can scale vertical obstacles. Then, they worked with hometown team Kopis Mobile to integrate streaming video. the result is a robot that will go right up the side of a ship’s hull to emplace hooks and ladders as well as conduct reconnaissance.

    Part 1 of 3: Draper Kauffman Aug.4, 1911 – Aug.18, 1979 – America’s first Twin Pin (EOD/SEAL)

Draper Kauffman is well-known as US Navy’s Founding Frogman forming the Naval Combat Demolition Units (NCDU), early predecessor to Navy’s Special Warfare’s UDT/SEAL. However, less known but equally important is he is also credited as a Founding Father of US Navy EOD. This is a small tribute to a Naval Officer, Leader, Visionary, Patriot, and a true American Hero.

    • Graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1933. Denied commission as a “regular” officer due to poor eyesight.

    • Following his denied commission, Kauffman joined the United States Steamship Lines in an effort to assist in what he felt would be the inevitable war against Germany.

    • 10 May 1940: volunteered as an ambulance driver for the French Army in a region of Alsace-Lorraine, just 10 miles from France’s “impenetrable” Maginot Line.

    • 22 June 1940: captured by the Germans with his ambulance co-drivers and became a WWII POW. Repatriated several months later.

    • Holder of the France’s Croix de Guerre.

    • Late 1940, became a member of England’s Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve. Volunteered for the Royal Navy Unexploded Bomb Department shortly afterwards.

    • December 1941, one of the first to defuse a Japanese UXO. Awarded his first Navy Cross.

    • 1942 Jan 04: LT Kauffman returns to Washington D.C. and established the US Navy Bomb Disposal School; 1942 Jan 23 First U.S. Navy Bomb Disposal class convened at Washington Navy Yard.

    • 1944, Kauffman drew from the ranks of the US Navy Bomb Disposal School to begin what would be the predecessor of UDT/SEAL, Naval Combat Demolition Unit.

    • Later in 1944 and ’45, Kauffman would conduct several combat demolition operations in the Pacific Theater, earning his second Navy Cross for actions specific to Saipan.

    • Just prior to the surrender of the Japanese in Tokyo Bay, Kauffman led a team to ensure the bay was safe from possible kamikaze boat attacks during the surrender ceremony.

    • 13 October 1945: the UDT veil of secrecy was lifted when a Saturday Evening Post article entitled “They Hit the Beach in Swim Trunks” was published.

    • In 1946, 13 years after graduating Naval Academy, Kauffman finally became a Regular Naval Officer.

    • 1946, Kauffman participated in some of the first Bikini Atoll nuclear tests.

    • August 1946, organized and commanded the U.S. Navy Radiological Safety School.

    • 1947, Finally became a Line Officer in the Regular Navy.

    • 1948, Kauffman took command of his first Destroyer, the USS Gearing.

    • 1960, Promoted to Admiral.

    • 1970, Last tour of duty was as Commandant of the Ninth Naval District, Great Lakes Naval Training Center.
